Some mention that it is very bright and gives off backing and brake light, while others say that the reverse light fails to generate useful light. Some customers have to return it because some lights have gone out on it, while other customers find that the light is grossly over biased.

Customers have mixed opinions about the performance of the trailer hitch cover. Some mention that it works well when they have a carrier trailer that has a load, while others say that it is defective and does not work. The bottom portion of the LED lights no longer work, and may not work with CAN systems. Some customers also mention that the product failed after only one year.

Easy install provided you know how to add a reverse wire. I do. If you have a standard 4 pin trailer plug already installed then that part is plug and play. Need to connect the hitch light backup wire to a back up light wire, and add a plug for that wire to remove the hitch light.. Butt of you don't, the tail brake turn functions still work. Or for one pl;ug only you could convert ther hitch light to a five pin connector and wire a five pin plug in parallel to the four pin on the vehicle plus a reverse connection to fifth pin. Reverse wire does to require a ground wire because it uses the ground wire in the four pin connector.
Functions of hitch light might not be exactly as you would expect but no actual problems.
Reverse light on turns off all red light functions.
Except when in reverse,
tail light matches vehicle tail lights
brake light matches vehicle brake lights.
The hitch light blinks its flash/brake light with left and right turn signals. surprising but OK.
Hitch light blinks with 4 way flashers, but differently depending on tail lights.
with tail lights on the hitch flasher matches vehicle flashers.
with tail lights off the hitch light blinks at same rate as vehicle but the flashes are short -almost a strobe effect.
I'd buy another for different vehicle if there was a 1.25 inch hitch version.
I don’t have any photos of it at night but these are very bright. They are actually brighter than my led reverse and brake light bulbs. Very helpful when reversing at night. Overall, solid product. Really like how it looks.

Some people have written reviews saying that this light does some kind of strobe when turn signals. Well I’m glad to report that isn’t true. When your turn signals are on the hitch light does not blink in any way as it shouldn’t if wired correctly. The reverse light works well and is very bright.
Remember this thing is completely plastic so don’t forget and use it as a step as I often do when I wash my SUV.
What concerned me the most was the reports of LED's failing rather quickly. There are three reasons for a LED to fail, 1st poor fabrication of the diode, 2nd poor soldering to the circuit board or 3rd it's over biased (to much voltage applied).
On the unit I received I measured the current draw for all three functions of the light and found that the light is grossly over biased, in break light operation the current draw was over 800 mA (0.8 Amps)! Just a ridiculous amount of current for LEDs'.
To correct this issue I installed resistors to drop the amount of current being drawn. I installed a 47.0 ohm 1/2 watt resistor in the blue lead (Running light) and 470 ohm 1/2 watt resistors in the yellow and green leads (left & right Break & Turn lights). This reduced the current draw to no more than 120 mA (0.12 Amps). From the attached pictures you can see the brilliance match's the existing lights. I weather proof this kludge with heat shrink tubbing and covered the whole thing with split tubbing for protection.
To fix the white wire problem for the back up light I installed a "Bullet" stile connector so the unit can be easily unplugged when the tow ball is needed. Also my unit was also to large physically to be installed correctly in the the receiver and wedges in so tightly the locking pin isn't needed. An interesting point about this "white" wire connection is that no significant current flows in it, it senses that voltage is applied to the backup light indicating that there is some unnecessary electronics in the light. Apparently the backup LED's are powered from the Running lights connection.
Other issues, the wires are way to small of gage wire and will withstand no physical abuse particularly at the connector plug.
Even with these modifications I don't expect a long life from this product compared to my old unit from HFT's that lasted almost ten years.

and someone bump me, so it didn't break, but right turn signal out, all in all great purchase
