About this item

  • 【Real 24/7 recording dash camera】The built-in Super Capacitor allows the T2 to resist extreme temperatures from -4°to 158°F and provides a safe working environment. And the wave detection sensor sends out microwave signal, and once the signal interfered by a moving object, it will prompt the camera to turn it on and start recording. Plus the OBD power cable with low voltage protection (only for 12V Vehicles) keeps the car camera charged all time and avoids the car battery draining.
  • 【24 Hours Wave Guard Parking Mode】A built-in wave sensor detects when an object is near the camera in front, prompting the camera to turn on and begin recording. And the microwave motion detection range can be tuned to far, medium or near, and is much more accurate than traditional motion detection. And the wave guard parking mode works in lower power consumption can prevent draining your vehicle’s battery in two nights.
  • 【Enhanced Night Vision】Based on advanced Starvis CMOS sensor, this car dash cam captures the road front (160°) to get good image quality and video footage without distortion at 1920x1080P@30fps or 1280X720P@30fps, capturing the license plates and road signs clearly. With HDR technology and F/1.8 aperture lens ensure the car video cam balance the exposures to pick up balanced images and videos in dark providing good night vision in low light.
  • 【Optional GPS& Looping Recording & G-Sensor】Loop recording automatically overwrites the oldest recordings. While the G sensor feature locks event footage to the special “Event” folder and prevents it from overwritten. Time lapse function automatically takes photos at specified intervals. The optional GPS function allows you to track the location, speed( KMH/ MPH), and driving route on Google Maps with our GPS viewer. 3. To use the 24/7 Radar Detection Parking Mode, please hardwire kit (B07G9WTWB9) or connect it with OBD Hardwire Cable.
    4. LCD Rotate Display Function offers you an alternative option to mount the dash cam upright on your dashboard. Please buy an adhesive disc (Not included) to mount on the dashboard.

A dash camera that is nothing more than itself.
    4 Stars
A dash camera that is nothing more than itself.
After spending many hours perusing /r/idiotsincars, I started seeing a ton of value in investing in my very own Dash camera, at least when someone else screws up I can easily know which direction to point my finger. The Venture T2 comes with a USB power adapter, or, can be ran off an included USB adapter or your car’s OBD2 port (which is what I opted to do). Most notably; this is a camera with an important job, it needs have a wide field of view and it needs to be able to handle most lighting situations. Vantrue’s solution to this is an older Sony IMX323 image sensor partnered to a 160° lens and a F/1.8 aperture. Aperture denotes how large the lens can open, allowing for more light to get to the image sensor, the lower the F stop, the higher the volume of light the aperture can let in.The T2 also comes with a suction cup mount, but as an optional accessory you can buy a suction cup mount that has built in GPS, should you have concerns around recording location data, or speed. For the week that I have been using this, the included suction cup has shown no signs of unsticking.Setup is fairly easy to understand, what isn’t is the button layout. There are two buttons on the display, one “event” button and an “ok” button, then 4 under side buttons for navigating menus. I found myself frequently getting menus and buttons backwards because of this layout, but after the camera is setup, it is unlikely these menus will have to be used again. This camera also supports what they call “Wave Guard Parking Monitoring.” When the camera will automatically power on and start recording moving objects, this mode enables itself automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity, the camera will also activate if it detects any vibrations using a G-Sensor, this could end up being quite helpful if a hit and run occurs. I found that with the “medium” sensitivity setting, it would record any time it saw motion at all, there were tons of clips of cars moving in parking lots, me walking on front of the car in my garage. Typically the clips would last about 15 seconds, but they would always catch what happened in that frame of time.On to the usage; Well, I honestly forgot it existed for the week that I have had it installed in my daily driver. I nestled it comfortably behind my rear view mirror so it blends in, I haven’t had a bystander comment on it (which is obviously preferred), and it has done its job at recording video. The footage records in 5 minute intervals (which can be adjusted if preferred), and I found at 1080p with 30FPS, the footage weighed in at 100Mb per minute, which with the 32GB Micro SD card that I installed, means it can record about 5 hours and 30 minutes of footage. Once the SD card fills up, it will automatically overwrite the oldest video file on it.One missing feature that would be a nice adaptation is wifi support, it would be nice to be able to just remote into it and copy footage without having to remove the SD card or connect a USB lead.Overall, I find that this is a decent camera for the price, setup was a maximum of 15 minutes to get it out of the box, installed in the car and cable managed, and the manual is short and easy to understand all of the features.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic picture quality, peace of mind
Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2019
I tried the Vantrue T2 dashcam on a whim. I love dashcams, cheap and expensive. I have a super cheap Kmart special in the Escalade right now and saw the T2 as an opportunity to upgrade. I have an X500 dual 1080p in my other car and a Uniden in my third. I have had this for two weeks now and especially wanted to see how the performance was on a few fronts:

    1. How did it work automatically?
    2. How easy was it to install?
    3. How was the day and night picture quality?
    4. Is the software easy to use?
    5. How is the user interface?

    1. It turns on automatically when using either the cigarette adapter or the really cool OBD2 adapter. It keeps recording as long as there is power and you have the option to stop recording when there is no movement. It also has what they call a "microwave" sensor (the tube end) that detects motion and will kick the camera on if something moves in front of the camera. I didn't get any recordings of this so perhaps I didn't have anything happen. It automatically deletes the oldest videos. I used a 64GB card so I didn't really run out of space. The files are about 282MB per 3min video clip.

    2. It was superbly easy to install. It includes a detachable suction cup that you simply twist the top to adhere to the inside of your windshield. You'll notice metal contacts on the suction cup, I assume that there is a GPS module built into it that talks to the camera. Pretty neat implementation. If you use the cigarette lighter it has a bright blue LED that tells you it's on. I find that kind of annoying. You can twist the blue LED cover and it reveals a USB port - handy for charging your phone. If you use the OBD2 adapter it keeps the camera powered at all times and lets you do recording for security purposes when you are parked. It has a battery failsafe in case it drains your cars battery to prevent leaving you stranded.

    3. Day and night picture quality is superb for such a small unit. I put it on par with my x500 1080p camera. License plates, vehicles, landmarks, street signs, etc are all easily identified day or night. I am VERY impressed with the night performance.

    4. There's no software. You just get videos. I wish it had some software like the Thinkware which ties in the metadata and shows you the speed/location on a map while the video is playing. It'd probably increase the price but it's handy in case you need to give a good presentation.

    5. The user interface is fine - nothing special to write home about. The biggest gripe is that the buttons are on the bottom of the camera. You have no idea what you're hitting while looking at the screen.

Overall the performance is very good - quality is good for a brand new product. The unit sits easily behind a rear view mirror out of the way. The cables are more than long enough so you can stash them behind your headliner and A pillar to reach your cigarette lighter or OBD2 port. It comes on and turns off automatically.

This camera has 1080p full HD, so it provides good quality imaging

The dash cam looks aesthetically pleasing. It isn't bulky and the screen is the perfect size. Once you mount it onto the windshield, it remains behind your rearview mirror, so it is out of your way. You just have to tuck the plugs out of sight, and you're set to go!

The menu is easy to navigate through. The parameters are easy to set up, and it wasn't difficult to view the videos/images on the dash cam while it was powered in the car, as well as when I connected it to my computer.

The instruction manuals came in two formats, one was a quick start and the other was more detailed. They were comprehensive and thorough, telling you everything that you need to know.

On the dash cam, without going into the menu, you can turn the sound option on or off. There’s also a button for night vision right next to the rewind button. Critical dash cam operating buttons can be found on the product without having to access the menu, which is pretty convenient.

Should you decide to install it through a cigarette lighter, as soon as you turn the car off, it no longer records and turns off. If it is plugged into the OBD port, it has a continuous recording option with a G sensor in parking mode. The great aspect of this is that the G sensor detects collision, so if someone hits your car while it is parked, it can detect the exact time aside from recording it. The only downside is that since it does not have a rear camera, it cannot record if someone hits you from behind. Nevertheless, it is a great camera which is an essential to have in that it can save you thousands of dollars when it comes to proving your innocence to insurance companies.

Some issues I came across are as follows:

The hinge that connects the camera to the suction cup (which mounts to the window) is a bit flimsy. If you try to take a standstill image by pressing the "!" button next to the "ok" button, it moves the dash cam. Despite tightening the knob as much as possible, it still moves around. It isn't as sturdy as I had hoped. Nevertheless, I didn't experience movement of the dash cam while driving at higher speeds or if hitting potholes.

Something I noticed about the cigarette lighter cord is that it was difficult to press the sides. However, you can still use the OBD power port to set your camera up. The box it came in was a bit damaged, but that did not affect the camera nor did it affect my review as I am aware that it is not the manufacturer’s fault.

When it comes to inserting the memory card, you have to insert it underneath the rubber that says “reset” right above the USB port. It is located to the left side of the screen. Initially, it was difficult to insert the SD card because I didn’t realize where the opening was. The manual shows a diagram of where the memory card goes, but on the actual dash cam, the opening is covered by a rubber tab.

While the dashcam is running on a power source, inserting or removing the memory card turns off the dashcam. This becomes an inconvenience if you’re navigating through the menu and it shuts off upon inserting/removing the card.

Although this dashcam is on the pricier side, I think it is well worth every penny spent. They live up to their motto—“Your Ultimate Driving Partner.”

Overall, I would recommend this product for anybody who is looking for an effective dash cam.
