      Greetings,
I am selling my 84 4Runner project and I am hoping to find it a good home with someone who knows about this generation 4Runner. Here is my listing:
Up for sale is my 1st generation Toyota 4Runner turbo project. The 4Runner body and frame is a 1984 with solid front axle. I am the second owner. In 2004, I took on the project of converting the original 22R motor to a 22RTE turbo back in 2004. At that time, the original instrument cluster had 174897 miles on it (I still have the cluster). The digital cluster had 173743 miles documented by a picture I took when I first fired it up. It currently has 184956 miles at the time of this listing. The 22RTE motor also had the CT 20 turbo replaced by a TEC T3 turbo. Both the motor and turbo were rebuilt, and the set had approximately 40,000 miles on the rebuild when I bought it. Included in the rebuild was a LC engineering high pressure oil pump. I added a Centerforce clutch with the install. The clutch has about 8000 miles on it. The original 22R wiring was replaced with a 22RTE 4Runner wire set to accommodate the digital instrument cluster. The smaller 22R gas tank was replaced with the 22RTE tank that included the digital fuel level sending unit. I also installed a R151 tranny from an 86 Turbo pick up which is coveted by rock crawlers for the low first gear and its durability.

Other upgrades are a turbo exhaust, Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks, rear springs were reached and an additional leaf was installed to alleviate the 1st gen rear end sag, wood accents on the door panels and the top of the cap, Bose 101 series II speakers in the rear with Alpine CD player, leather shifting boots, Optima red top sealed battery, map lights and brake lever from an 86 PU, tubular running boards, PIAA Pro XT fog/driving light cluster, Hella headlights that accept H4 bulbs, a stainless utility box in the rear with wood cover and a red 5-gal metal jerry can with spout. Also included are a set of new, never installed Northwest Offroad Specialties greaseable spring shackles. New in box rear light lens. Service manuals for a 1984 and 1986 4Runner. I just had new rear brakes, rear brake cylinders, fuel pump and filter and 2 new tires installed.

Included is another 22RTE motor on an engine stand ready to be rebuilt. You just do not find these motors anymore. Try locating one in a local bone yard and they just laugh when you inquire. I was planning to drive the current vehicle while I was rebuilding a new motor. Included are two motor stands and a cherry picker. New, never installed turbo pre luber, high performance DOA cam, ARP head bolts. At least 10 plastic crates of odds and ends parts; two boxes of various switches, bolts, and fasteners, flex a lite electric fan, 84 22R three row radiator, alternator, fan, and a turbo dash and gas tank from an 86 PU.

      The Bad:

What is needed; replace the AC condenser (included), body work on the driver’s side rear quarter panel, paint job and new bumpers or modify the existing Smittybilt bumpers. At the time of this listing, the Jacobs electronics Ultra torquer coil and off-road energy pack with uphill power assist are not connected.
