I was just wondering how many people drive with their headlights on during the day. I normally leave my headlights and fog lights on all the time. I don’t have to worry about turning them on at night, or driving down the road with the just the DRL on (don’t get me started on DRL without sensors).

I use the DRL even without a sensor.
I like the visibility it provides to me for others.
    Anything to avoid an accident.
    I don't want a 2020 or another T4R.
After I get the Morimoto xb fogs and matching lighting. We will see how it ends up...
Apparently, the $78 Phillips HID kit is no longer available.
Need led for interior & exterior also...

All the craze is HID but I ran it in my taco and got flash all the time no matter how I adjusted them. I went back to LED on my 4Runner, running DRL, and I don’t see any difference and I don’t get flashed, not once. I recommend a kit from Xeon Depot, high quality kits with easy install with basic knowledge and some patience, no tieing into the battery like HID. https://www.xenondepot.com/2018-4runner-LED-Headlight-s/108.htm

I don't believe all lights can be turned off. I thought (perhaps I'm wrong) even going to "off" leaves your running lights on can somebody verify? When I got the vehicle I was testing this and even "off" didn't shut down everything. I miss the auto setting my Honda has.

I never turned on lights, then had a professional gig that taught me to turn on lights whenever my engine was running so I ran full lights all the time. Then I got a truck with Auto lights and honestly don’t know how to turn them on/off any more.

My DRL is deactivated by bending a pin down in the relay. I run with my low beams on all the time. The DRL is deactivated so I can use parking lights w/out DRL as needed.

All lights off, my 4Runner switch lets me turn everything off, then has a DRL mode, park lights then low beam mode.

    DRL during the day.

They turn on when you take the E-brake off.

They turn off when you press the E-brake down.

    No sensor needed.

You can also run parking lights and/or low beams and leave them in the on position when you leave the car. Just hit the lock button on your fob and it will turn all lights off.

Not sure about fog lights. I rarely use them.

I run with DRL on during the day. I have Cougar Motor LEDs in the DRL /high beams. I like the look of the DRL, offers safety and the high beams light up the night.

I want to try this. Coming from Chevy since 2004, all had auto lights, never touched a switch.

Might have to press the lock button twice to get the low beams to turn off.

    Can't remember exactly.

Curious, was your truck lifted and if so did you compensate the lighting by pointing the lights down. I know that’s at times that is not always thought of when lifting a vehicle. Maybe why you were getting flashed? I’ve seen cars and trucks with these HID and was wondering about them vs LED

I had to adjust my HIDs down quite a bit. They work great and I never get flashed.

I did, several times. I had an awesome place at work where I could park flat and have a garage door with nice horizontal lines to keep both even but by the time I got them low enough to stop being flashed the forward light putout was worthless.

I need to modify this because I messed up.

DRLs turn on when you take the E-brake off, but do not turn off when you put the E-brake back on. They turn off when you shut the car off.

Is there a way to drive with just DRL and fogs?

Just got my 2019 sr5 4runner yesterday but it doesn't look like that's an option... That's how i kept them in my tacoma. They turned off when i turned off the truck. Never had to use the dial switch unless it was dark.
