    Haha had to try :p

That’s so weird it runs normal in the rain.. maybe run it and hit areas with a hose while in limp and see if it comes out of limp once water hits a particular area and then work out the bug from there :notsure:

See, that's the ass kicker, we DIDN'T buy a project. We bought what we thought was a fully functioning 4Runner. We had just completed a project Camaro and did NOT wish to do another project, but here we are...8 pages of shit.

Thanks, I have a similar sticker on my slow assed bus. It reads "If you think this is slow, wait till I go uphill".
She's a 32,000lb beast and as slow as a herd of turtles :turtleride: that comes to a mere crawl :bored: when challenged with an incline. They at least have that in common. Not sure if my adrenalin junkie spirit will survive the grand adventure with nothing fast and lively to drive. :(

Ok, LC Engeneering doesn't mess around with their shipping, the EGR delete is already here! Now, if only my mechanic and my Runner were here.........We could finish this damned project. Also went by Toyota and ordered yet another set of spark plug wires, this time OEM as well as a new power antenna. He did say while he was driving, the A/C stopped working and it went into limp mode again. :annoyed:

Also took it by a paint shop to see if we could get the paint buffed out, since the PO painted it himself but failed to buff out the paint. The paint guy said it was only 1 stage paint and would require wet sanding and clear coat in order to save it from being ruined in our crazy sun. :censored:

So now we must decide if we want to invest :spending: even more into the paint or just wrap it and call it a day. :notsure:

:angrygirl: This greedy bastard now has a coolant leak in the rear of the block. WTF!?!?!?!?!?!

Am on my way to get the spark plug wires and antenna from Toyota and was HOPEFULLY going to be finished with this PITA....but NOOOOOOOO, she apparently wants even more attention. He officially hates her now. It's like she just doesn't want to be fixed right. Today we are deleteing the EGR, replacing the spark plug wires with OEM and replacing the temp. sending unit....and now figuring out where the coolant is dripping from.

I am ready to give the fuck up. :pout:

Found what is leaking. A new OEM coolant hose on the back of the block, that goes under the intake manifold.

    toyota leak.jpg

Seriously, why? It's fuckin new OEM! Time to remove the fuckin intake manifold, order yet another new OEM intake
gasket. Told Toyota this morning just to make a shortcut on their desktop for our fuckin Runner so we don't have to keep giving them the fuckin VIN number. They feel bad for us and have started giving us a discount on the parts. Fuckin Toyota's are supposed to be bullet proof. I swear ours is acting like a fuckin Ford.

Well at least the power antenna went in without any drama. Hopefully the trend will continue. He's working on the EGR delete now. Fingers crossed.

Ok, so apparently the factory EGR was not working! The root of all our issues! It is now deleted, never to return!
    Here's some pics:

We took her for a test run and all I can tell you is she is far better than she ever was!!!!!!!!!

Now she is still slower than I would like but I have learned to lower my expectations of the 3.slow. Will have to take her on a long hot drive to see if it is truly fixed, but so far, all signs seem to indicate it is.

I would of replaced it with a new OEM rather than deleting it. It cools the combustion chambers..

Well since we have her registered in "anything goes" Florida, and have already deleted the annoying CAT, we didn't need this to add fresh air to our exhaust. His initial plan was to put it back to stock, minus the exhaust crossover delete we felt was necessary, but as anyone can see we went well above and beyond with this damned Runner. Not even sure if you can still find an OEM EGR for a 91.

I have a 93 4runner and the 3.slow. I ran into the same issues you had. I dropped well over a $1000 in parts trying different things to get it to run smooth. I said forget it. I put in a 3.4 motor and have not had a single issue since. Sometimes you just gotta know when to stop throwing good money after bad. I still have the 4runner and love it.

I took her to a paint guy to see if he could buff out the paint since the Previous Owner (PO) painted it and didn't buff it or clear coat it. (and he is an automotive painted, supposedly.) Our guy said he could do the work but suggested we just have the whole car repainted...correctly. Or we could just wrap it.

    Anyone wrap their Runner?

In my opinion, wrap will end up costing about the same as a paint job, because to do the wrap they would have to prep the whole vehicle anyway. I would just have it painted. I looked in to it for my 02, and ended up selling it because of the 6 to 8 thousand bucks for paint or wrap, sold it for 7k.

Well if we wrapped it, we would do the work ourselves, so it would just be the cost of the wrap itself. I'm not sure I'm up for the challenge of painting it myself.

:crapstorm: Well, the fun hasn't stopped. We went to use the Runner today to drop off a few donations and besides melting the pennies and leaving me stranded not once, but TWICE :angrygirl:today, it STILL went into fuckin LIMP mode!!!!!!! :annoyed:
What in the holy fuck could it possibly be? Seriously? Not funny anymore. The ERG delete was supposed to solve the Limp issue, but yet it apparently is still there. We have the OEM spark plug wires to put on and the replacement OEM temperature sending unit to replace, but everything else has been replaced. My faith is waining. :censored:

Hate to say it but it might be the exhaust. The only reason I put mid-tube headers on my Z28 was because they were built by a very good company, SLP. And stroked it, increased injector size and had to have new chip to tune it...
Your running lean now. It’s gonna heat up the exhaust. But you must have it figured out...keep us posted...
