Rides wonderfully. Better than I expected. I haven't had a chance to go off road yet, but highway speeds feel great, and the KO2's produce very little road noise.

 

The ride feels great. No off road experience yet with this setup, but the highway feels awesome.

I used the highest clip setting which I think is somewhere between 2.5 - 3 inches. I'm using the OME 899 springs which I believe are "heavy" springs as I do pull a trailer of 4 wheelers once in a while but even without pulling anything or being fully loaded up it's quite comfortable.

 

Upgraded my sound system, it sounds perfect

Took it to Toyota for its 15k service. So today i did the 15k service.

I have never brought my 2016 into the dealer for service. They will never touch my vehicle unless there is absolutely no choice. Not even for free.

 

Installed XD 5k hid kit and the morimoto fogs at 5.5k and seem alot whiter. Will HIDs get whiter?

 

It is my experience that you can get both LED & HID's in different spectrums (colors).
They may be both a lot brighter and more white (different k value).
I like that look.

No it's free, but I do oil every 5k, they didn't check the diffs, nor grease the slip yokes in the drive shafts. So, I planned to do it myself from the start. Replaced all the skid bolts with grade 8 hardware and installed the metal oil filter housing.

Yep, I let them check the box. Not that They do anything on the list anyway. I pull the skid plates before I go in, so they can't screw up the bolts.

 

I sprayed the back hatch with some plasti-dip. I like the look so I might peel it and roll on some rhino-liner one day.

 

First oil change was at 2K, 2nd at 5K, 3rd at 10K, 4th at 15K, pending the 5th when I hit 20K I will always change my oil ever 5K which the dealer will not do under Toyota care. That and like you said, they don't get what a torque spec is lol. Guess I shouldn't expect much from a guy getting paid $12 an hour to change oil but come on. The horror stories posted pretty much daily are just unbelievable.

 

Oh right on. That’s probably a good call on the grade 8 hardware too. Those bolts used to fight me on the taco

 

I did the same with the metal oil filter housing and I will do the same on my 2019 Highlander I just bought. For the bolts, I also swapped over and I use anti seize on them at every oil change.

Yep and yep. I had to do it on my Taco prior as well. I wasn’t expecting to have to do it on my 4Runner though, as I only set my front coilovers for about 1.25” of lift... but sure enough, had the odd vibe that went away in 4wd. Rolling smooth again now.

 

No reason to change your oil that often

Small engines may have break in oil.
No logical dealer would sell a vehicle that you couldn't get in & drive for @ least 6 months. Unless x-country.
I come from a HEUI Powerstroke diesel system where oil is key.
I have learned a lot here.
Unless you want the insurance of the first early oil change. 10k is all that is needed with this engine & synthetic oil.

I was a 3k miles & change before this site.

 

You're likely not wrong. It's super cheap peace of mind though. 5K is all any of my vehicles will EVER see between oil changes. The fact it takes me about 8-9 months to put 5K on my 4runner is also a factor. My 2016 just rolled 18K miles.
