What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

May I ask a question that has probably been asked a million times.
Why does everyone like the yellow for their fog lights?
Is it easier on the eyes?
Is it like red & your eyes don't dilate?
I personally like the spectrum of my LED work light lightbar on my plow truck.

How much did the black rails run you?

 

for me its just the asthetics, it breaks up the white and black. Performance wise yellow is suppose to be better in poor conditions

that is saying everything is aimed correctly of course. When I used to ride off road on my motorcycle I always ran yellow lenses, really helped me pickup things in the shadows and I always just stayed with it.

 

Definitely the same rack. Probably overstock haha!

 

Added the 4way reverse light and brake/turn signal module from diode dynamics. Reverse is bright as hell now. Will add night shot soon.

 

Also added TVDVINYLDECALS.COM emblem inlay decals for liftgate.

 

I saw a debate awhile back. It looks like the same rack but it's not. The FJ had three mounting points per side the 4Runner's only have 2 mounting points per side...hence similar but different.

For me it’s better visibility in snow storms compared to regular white light. I tried both colors in my BD squadrons on my Tacoma and yellow yielded much better visibility.

 

Are you saying that I should try tinting my light bar yellow?
When the snow & wind is blowing, I cannot see anything. I have to wait...

Prinsu make a drill and a No Drill option for their full length racks. I am eyeballing the full-length no drill myself. Front 'mount' is attached with industrial 3M tape. If I beat you to it I will snaps some pics of the finished install.

If you drive with your light bar on, then give it a shot.

 

No heat source for me, although it was a 85 or so out when I did it. There aren’t any complex curves, and I completely removed the rails to wrap them. Trickier things I’ve wrapped, I’ve used a hairdryer.

It is not legal to use a 32" single (double row) led light bar for driving. I use it when I get to a jobsite. Also, it is bumper mounted so as soon as I pick up my plow it is blocked.
This would be for use while plowing during/after a snowfall.

Well shit, the yellow lamin-x makes a green light with the morimoto’s, I think I’ll just run them as is for a while.

My Philips LED fog bulbs also look kinda green with the yellow laminex. You'll get used to it. For some reason my initial impression was green-ish. I didn't like it. But it's really grown on me. And it's not really green. It's more selective yellow.

 

I had a spare set of the precut ones but honestly it looks a little small, I just got a couple sheets and made my own, it was easy enough. I just cut it square, put it on and then trimmed it to the shape. I ran it last night with and without and I think I really am preferring it without.

 

After 11.5 weeks my SSO rack arrived. They did give me updates as they ordered things but glad to finally have it. Not sure when it will be installed since I may wrap the top. But TRD Off-road Black rails and crossbars will soon be available.

 

Does SSO offer forum discount? Gonna order a slim line bumper and high clearance attachment soon for my wife's 4runner.

Was pretty straight forward. Plug module inline between the factory harness and the taillight... jump black wire to green wire of module harness with supplied tap.. then remove amber signal light and replace with good 7440 white led bulbs. I'll see if I have link to those as well..

Tried to install my ARB compressor this weekend, turned out to be a bad wire harness and pressure switch. Just my luck. Emailed ARB about warranty just waiting now.

 

Any idea why it says 2014-2017?
Are the connectors different?
Someone had that problem with the 3rd brake light.

I cut it just short of the grooves on the insides. Thus, if you can see above the car, you can see the gray on the inside of the grooves of the rail. I don’t have crossbars at the moment.
