Rear shock 19 runner. Everywhere I read says 16mm
I tried 15,16,17 no dice, tried sae no dice, did toyota invent their own size. I even dumped harbor freight metrics and bought a craftsmen set.
Nope didn't round it out or force it, thanks

17mm. Make sure you grab the part that extends past the nut (it’s 8mm or use vise grips), otherwise, you’ll just keep rotating the shaft.

Thanks, I checked tire on/off no way to get a socket ontop. 17 wrench fits but is way to loose, 16 to tight won't fit on. I saw a lifted runner today and looked, his had a larger opening to access the nut, I need to look closer, might need to trim the fender well for more room?

That would be quite strange. Looks like you have the stock shocks on there. I had to use the open end on mine given the tight spot. I turned it enough to rotate the shaft so that I could get the 8mm on the top part to hold it.

I will say the nuts on the Bilstein that I put on are 3/4”, but if a 17 is too loose, 3/4 would be looser still.

So I found out the problem. It's 17mm. It needed a regular box wrench vs my rachet wrench that would not fit into the fender opening to go over the nut.
Here's the funny part, I let the axle hang and used a strap wrench to turn the shock body out. Weight of axle held the nut in place.
In the end I ended up with a complete set of rachet wrenches I've wanted forever. Sears had a set of 20 for 59 bucks

That looks to be the passenger side??? I had to beat that sides pinch weld out of the way for more room.

Yeah that was passenger side, the driver's side had less room.
It's doable but seams like a design miss on yodas part
