Measurement for leaving

So looked through all 4pages in this thread and did not find measurement.
I read all over to measure center of wheel hub to fender. Makes sense but for the life of me can't figure out why we can't measure from top or bottom of the rim .
Center is a guess unless you get a laser level out to find exact center of the hub.
The top/ bottom of the wheel never changes, same as the hub unless you bend a rim. It's just easier to hook a ruler in the bottom of the rim in the center.
Any reason that won't work? Thank you

 

No opinions? I just think the outside diameter of the rim is spot on to measure to fender vs attempting to find dead center of the hub

 

Any fixed spot will be fine to measure from. I hook the tape onto and use the bottom of the center wheel cap.

 

Some people have a different wheel size.

 

Thanks, for the sake of pre and post measurement, I guess any way is good to judge, and anyone who cares will see person a,b or c got xx inches of lift . For me the center of the hub is not dead on unless you use a laser level and pre measure or mark the hub. The rim biein a stable marker and no guessing

 

Center of hub isn't exact, but you can get pretty close.

It's not critical to be exact on a lift height measurement, right?

Nope, OCD would not allow it. When I wire electrical panels etc, if the wires are not symetrically straight I'll fix it, rip it out start over whatever it takes. yep my problem but I sleep well at night knowing it's right

 

I think you are missing the point.

For measuring how much lift and only you get just pick and point and keep it the same and you are good. When trying to compare with other you need a solid point from which everyone else is using. Bottom of the rim with different rim sizes won't help.

Don't forget to make sure your PSI is 100% the same also or you might be .009098734 inches lower on one corner.
