Switched jobs and lost my company vehicle and was going to get paid mileage instead. Tundra wasn't going to cut it and it was getting older.
But switched jobs again and got my company vehicle back so now I got a garage queen.

Because I’ve wanted one for years and finally said F it and traded in the Tacoma.

It's better then my 2nd gen Tacoma which I still have for commuting. Why I love it more then the Tacoma: Better approach and departure angles, fully boxed frame, rear disc brakes, 1-piece driveshaft, power and heated front seats, manual shifted transfer case lever, KDSS, fit and finish is superior to the Tacoma, and last...still made in Japan

They look awesome but it stops there. I just got rid of my 2016 and traded it for a camry for the wife. I now have the 4runner and it does not have any issues that my tacoma had.

Seriously just before i traded it in it had funny tire wear with only a 1.5 inch lift.

Traded in my '17 Tundra. Tundra was fine, just too darn large for city driving/parking and I never got used to how big it was. Should have bought a 4Runner 2 years ago, but who knew...

Right before I traded mt 17 TRD OR in the rear end started howling bad at 60 plus MPH.....

And this was after it had been to the dealer 6 times for a leaking not seeping diff that Toyota told me was normal

Unfortunately unimpressed with my 2017 Taco OR. Should have gone with the 4R from the start, but oh well. Happy now.

I had a 2006 4Runner SR5 with 150,000 miles on the ODO. The dealership accepted a trade in of $13,000 which was only $4,500 less than I bought my SR5 with 38,000 miles in early 2009. 4Runners simply hold their value. The primary reason was the Gen5 2.0 (2014+) is freaking awesome looking, as soon as it came out I wanted one. I was not overly excited about the 2010-13 styling and was wondering what I would do if, thankfully I did not need to. 2 years later I look back in the garage before I close the door.

Had 3 jeeps. 2 Cherokees. Always always wanted a 4runner. Now I do, and I'm thrilled. I bought it specifically to do what I like. Adventures, getting lost out in the deserts and mountains,... shooting guns, and getting the fuck away from people.

And its been every damn thing, I was hoping. Wish I'd bought one sooner.

Edit- oh and I gets me to work every day also...

I had a 15 sport taco, had issues went through a buy back, wanted another taco, but saw the horror stories of the 3rd gens and test drove and could not take the 3.5. Went with the 4Runner needed a reliable daily driver while being able to off road in a moments notice. I still miss the bed especially during hunting season when dragging a cage on the ground when going through creeks.

I'll second that! Years back wanted a truck and wife said if I bought it don't bother coming home. I did go home but only to load my junk in the new truck:)

wanted one for about 8 years but couldn't make myself spend $30k for a vehicle. then-just yesterday- found a 2019 with 12k miles on it and with a trade-in (our 2014 Sienna) was able to get out the door for $28K...close enough for govt worker.

Oh man! Too bad you could not find a way to hold onto this unicorn. The last great Jeep IMO that should have been produced longer.

I bought my 4 because my FJ62 was starting to cost me a lot of money and I wanted something like it that had more power and less issues. So far a win win.

It came with Nitto Ridgegrapplers. Honestly been mostly into cars prior to this so went in not knowing more then the “look” I was going for and knowing it can do some fun stuff off-road. Only 300mi on it so no clue how I like them yet(seem ok though).

I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD OR DBSB with Tech package and premium package but I am finding that I don't use the truck bed as often as I thought I would. Interior space is probably better to have for me due to many camping/hiking/roadtrips and I am waiting for the 2020s to come out to get into a 4Runner!

Also the Taco feels sluggish and there's a clunk everytime I switch from 4H to 2WD....

My Audi's power steering was going and I did not want to get stuck in a money pit being it was at 96K. Ive always wanted a truck to winter camp in while chasing snow storms for snowboarding. I went with T4R and I am as happy as a pig in shit!!! I cannot wait to start modding it too !!

After three Lexus sedans, I wanted to get back in an SUV, but the GX is way behind the 4Runner in updates (and I never considered the crossovers). The Limited is just about as good as a Lexus and doesn't feel like a downgrade. When they blacked out all the chrome with the Nightshade, it was an easy choice.

My 2014 Silverado was only 2WD, got crappy gas mileage and was not cut out for road trips or off road. Used my wife’s GMC Terrain for a 5500 mile National Park road trip and we were unable to do any off road stuff. Wanted an off road capable SUV, but I don’t like jeeps as from experience break way too much/require too much maintenance to stay on the road. I have liked 4Runners for a while and just got to the point where I said F*** it, life’s short I’m gonna go buy and enjoy it while I can.

That’s when I got myself a 2019 Nautical Blue Off Road Premium 4Runner for which I have added a few extra G’s on accessories and parts with no regret. You only live once, money comes and goes goes. No one knows when it will end enjoy it while you can. I guess I’m just a pessimistic realist. Lol.

I’ve seen a 4Runner involved in head on collision with a fusion (combined speed estimated to be around 110-130mph) and 4Runner while totaled the driver survived with what I would consider minor injuries.
