Logged on here to find out a bit more about the 4runner before we buy one. My wife is just about to pull the trigger!

This will be her daily driver for a 45+ minute commute in pretty full expressway traffic, but we will also use it to tow our pop up camper and throw a canoe on top and all that kind of fun stuff. Its just us and the 3 yr old.

Right now shes driving a '14 jeep cherokee limited and shes looking at a '19 SR5 premium. I'd rather she got a TRD off road premium. It seems like they're not much more money for more 4x4 features that could come in handy.. although the SR5 would fully suit our needs. We are going to hit the dealers this weekend.

For clarification, is her current jeep 4wd? Is the new SR5 premium going to have 4wd?

I'm more a base model guy and when I purchased my 18' SR5 4wd, it seemed that perhaps a base TRD off road could have been had for not a whole lot more ($1500?). I haven't challenged the 4wd system my SR5 has but I only have to occasionally deal with muddy county roads. Not much snow and ice in SC. I doubt I would ever require a rear locker, but I've seen basic TRD off roads listing for less than $40k. I've never considered premium models so I don't know how the comparisons at that level match up. Good luck.

Welcome. I just bought 2 weeks ago. I read a decent cost is ~4k off MSRP. I heard Naperville will do that but didn't head south for me. Schaumburg wouldn't budge a penny, ended up at fox lake .4k off MSRP. Good luck with the hunt. Oh Arlington is advertising right now 0% for 60 months. Don't take the bait it's only zero on the first 15k

Yes sir, I bought a white orp. Caution on his remaining white one.
I test drove both and based on reading the past couple months some runners have a vibration problem (I'm guessing tires) ..anyway the 1st one had minor vibration from 40 plus. Since the other runner is identical I drove the other on the same road, same speeds. No vibration so I bought it. So if they still have a white orp with pro rims, it vibrates (unless they had the shop check it out?)
That said any runner you buy I would drive it first and compare to another. Not the dealers fault.

Oh, forgot to mention. I test drove 6 runners over the last couple months and that was only one that vibrates.
One other thing. Search for Toyota rentals. Many, not all dealers will rent you any model toyota for a day, week whatever you want for under 50 bucks a day. Rented mine at schuamburg for a day. Advantage for me doing so is you can do stuff that most test drives won't allow. I loaded my trailer and test drove how it handled, drove up north 50 miles highway then country roads back. That's what clinched my knowing I wanted a 4runner. A 2 mile test drive is hard to tell how you really like it..just my opinion

Thanks for the heads up on Garber in Fox Lake. We bought the blue sr5 premium w/ 3rd row. Got it for almost 4k below msrp. We had a good experience there.

Ha! I have never been able to figure out the posting of pictures on forum boards. But... if you simply go to Toyota's website you can see it. Lol!
Seriously... how does one post pics to this or any other forum??
