Hey guys. Going through the tread, didn’t see anything about just adding a front spacer until I can save up enough cash for a real lift.

Anyone know what size of a spacer would be needed on the front only to just level a 2019 TRD Offroad to the stock rear? 1”..2”?

Save the couple hundred on the spacer and save it for the lift.

I paid 330.00 shipped from Amazon for 5100's and installed them last Sunday morning myself.
Totally worth it if you can install yourself.

^this. You'll never even know it's there in terms of ride quality... My wife has no idea I even put one on our 4runner lol.

I beg to differ on spacer "lifts" but I'm tired of repeating why.

Some here have wives who like the way the 4runner drives stock. Leaving some to do just a spacer lift to make sure the ride quality doesn't change because their better halves would bitch up a storm if they did.

are bilstien 5100's considered a spacer lift? I'm confused on your response.

Sorry I think I quoted the wrong person. But I honestly don't remember why.

And it doesn't drive anything like stock if you ask me. My Tundra was a back breaker with the leveling kit. Not comfortable at all. Yes it was a truck but major difference.

I think that depends if you put the spacer on top of the spring instead causing spring pre-load instead of on top of the strut assembly. My Tacoma that I just traded in had a block in the back and a spacer on top up front (installed myself) of the strut assembly and it rode exactly the same.

The shitty ride doesn't come from spring "pre-load." Spring pre-load is a misnomer, actually. Your springs aren't being loaded down any more with a spacer. It's just a puck on top of your springs adding lift to the rest of the truck.

What's happening is the extra lift from the spacer is extending the distance from the bottom of your strut to the top of your strut. This extension makes the strut sit in a travel zone that is stiffer than if you had it at its normal ride height. This gives you a stiffer ride because the shock valving at that extended state is valved to handle big bumps and is not valved to handle the normal conditions we see at ride height.

Also with a spacer extending your strut, you're much more likely to bottom out the shock (or max out the travel), which will give you that jarring effect.

I have chosen all of my vehicles to make sure they have linear springs. Maybe it depends on the shock and spring combo. In my limited experience a 3rd gen Tacoma sr5 that comes with linear springs feels exactly the same as stock with a spacer lift. My 4runner is an sr5 premium that had a cornfed spacer in front for a short time and the ride quality was unchanged.

Spacers in the front are completely different than spacers in the rear. In the front you have to worry about bumpstop travel. In the rear you have to worry about over extension.

If one wants to use a spacer in front they really have to calculate bumpstop travel. Here is an amazing article on tacoma world that puts to rest that front lift spacers break struts is not true if you stay under a certain amount of lift. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-you-are-not-using-all-the-suspension.400276/

Personally on a 4runner pro i would not go over 1" of front lift using a spacer as the link to the article is for the 3rd gen tacoma only.

It's correct that the shocks don't bottom out (I misstated that in my post), but it is true that your suspension bottoms out quicker with a spacer. By adding a spacer, you are moving the entire positioning of the suspension components (UCA's and LCA's) down. This means that you will have less down travel to work with than if you didn't have a spacer.......granted you have more up travel (bump) than you did without spacers. But this is not the main concern when talking about how spacers effect ride quality. The main concern is where you are riding in the shocks travel at ride height. With a spacer, you're riding in a stiffer part of the shock valving.

Ok, so I had a chance to skim through.

From what I gathered, the OP needed to use an aftermarket UCA, an aftermarket shock (Bilstein 5100s), a spacer, and he needed to shave down his bump stops to theoretically get an extra inch of travel out of the front end, but he wasn't sure if the CV angles would bind or not with that extra travel.

There are a couple of mentions of a spacer lift feeling fine, but also a couple of mentions of a proper aftermarket suspension set-up as probably being the best bet.

    What am I missing?

Hi there! I’m new to this site but I see there may be some people interested in the 2019 Fox Coilovers and rear reservoir shocks...... I’ll be taking mine off near the end of November if anyone is interested in buying them. I’m in Arizona, reach out to me if you are interested. I only have 300 miles on them as of today, probably close to 700 by the end of the month.

Westcott designs in Arizona is what we been looking for gents! For the 19 and up 4runner trd pro, retain factory fox suspension and get a lift. Check it out.

I’m curious what does this spacer lift do differently than the Cornfed spacer lift? Since the Cornfed spacer lift is cheaper.

It adds bump stops. For close to the same cost you can get Eibachs kit hopefully in a few weeks with tuned springs to retain the factory fox

Yeah I was looking into the Fox springs they will be offering but with all the testing going on and everything else in the world I think it is going to be quite a while till those springs are offered.

I’m getting it in a few days, the way it’s designed and changes the collar on the front spring makes sense to me, and uses a shim on top that’s minimal makes sense. The pro fox suspension is awesome and the spring rates are great. I had icon stage 7 on a Tacoma before and honestly can’t tell a difference between the two seriously. The internal bypasses on this fox factory suspension is awesome in my opinion and there’s no reason to change out the pro suspension. So I’ll give me thoughts after I get the westcott designs lift and see how good or if it’s a bad lift. But as lift goes it’s exactly the height I was looking for, 1.5” front and 1.25” in rear. Plus a bigger tire your at 2” lift!

Sounds good Mike, Post some pics of install if possible. Are you doing the install? Question with this lift are you going to be nose high? Or is it going to look like stock stance?

I will def post before and after pics! No I’m making the trip as I live in Vegas and will be driving to Arizona, it’s about a 4 hour trip to westcott designs. I believe from what I’ve seen on there ig and videos it’s level to me from the pics and video but obviously lifted. He has a video on that link I posted and shows how it looks. But I will def take pics and video of the process when they are doing the work.

It's your money but why not buy cornfed. Best respected spacer for runners and far cheaper than the ones your buying...just curious, thanks
