    Yeah, I wouldn't buy a "new" 4Runner with 100 miles on it.

I think there were 6 miles on mine when I bought it.

I think it's 500 miles, but it was a long time ago when I sold cars.

I bought my 4runner with 45 miles on it, but I think about half of those were from when I had test driven it 2 weeks earlier.

I would have a hard time buying "new" with much more than that.

In my area about a 1/3rd of dealers offer the rentals. They rent so you can do whatever you want for as long as you want, day week whatever.. they also is them as service loaners then sell them at 5k miles. My rental was just up at the local "tent sale" for about what one can buy new. They don't lose much of anything. For me I would.never " test drive" a car, tow a trailer with it and drive it a day, so renting made sense to me even for the 50 buck fee just knowing it would be a good fit. Bought a couple vehicles in the past that I hated after the 1st day. Some dealers ride with and only let you go on planned routes so you never know real world conditions.

It's smart business and it really benefits everyone.

Buyers get to try before they buy and have a hassle-free extended test drive.

The dealers actually sell more cars this way.

I hear you, my 4Runner had 8 miles on it. But the best vehicle I’ve ever owned was a 2002 Tacoma Double Cab. I bought it with 88 miles on it and a big pile of bird poo on the hood. The miles came from a dealer trade. I kept it for 13 trouble free years.

Yeah, you never know. A new vehicle with 88 miles could turn out to be the best vehicle ever.......or the worst.

At least with the lower mileage ones there's less of a chance someone decided to floor it on every test drive it went on.

With higher mileage, I always wonder why so many have driven it without buying.
