Not sure if this is a possible solution for you but I've worked in the sporting goods industry since 1996. If you stopped into a sporting goods store and asked if they had any bat boxes you could probably get the rails and cross bars in those. You'd have to tape together two boxes (or multiple boxes together depending what kind of bat box it was..senior league big barrel would be best) but you could cut them to fit. You could ship those by UPS or FedEx. The end caps and ends of the side rails can easily fit in a USPS Medium flat rate box. It's a little extra work but it should cut the shipping costs down considerably.

I used the box that my prinsu rack came in and cut it down as small as possible. The cross bars are not all that long, it's the rails that are long. The end caps and hardware nest nicely inside and dont take up much room.
90 is alot, but we are talking about shipping across the US lol.

 

The ends of the cross bars are easily removed too with a torx bit. That gets you down to about 45" or so. The ends are labeled what they are so they are easy to put back on. All anyone has to remember is the dimples on the bottom of the rails point to the front.

 

I didn't think about removing the rail end pieces
