Hello All , Question about remote start installation . Have a 2018 4Runner and want to put in a remote start . Don't want any issues from the dealer about the warranty if their are problems down the road so i was going to have them do the installation . Problem is they only have 1 type of product they install ( no choices ) and their cost seems to be high . Was looking for some advice from anyone who has a remote start in their vehicle on what type they have and if they are happy with it . Also if i have an outside vendor do the install am i opening myself up to issues with my dealer concerning the warranty ? Any help on either question is much appreciated . Thanks in advance . Have a great day .

I have the Compustar remote start. It uses the factory key fob to start by pushing the lock button 3 times. I went with the compustar because I will eventually add their "drone" module and be able to Lock, unlock and start via my Iphone. Good luck

Mine was installed when bought I paid the $ and was ok with that. Can't speak for the warranty but I think they may scare you into thinking you have to go with them. Just have to do your homework on that one and if it's a newer vehicle don't cheap out on the install go with someone known in your area with a good track record.

I have a Compustar remote start. The dealer where I got my 4Runner from installs Compustar so no problem with warranty.

What model of Compustar do you have that allows you to use your current FOB? Thanks

I have the Prime G15 (2 way). Works with the factory remote. I think most of the Compustar will work with the factory remote. Check with wherever you looking to get the Compustar system from. They should be able to tell you which system will work with the factory remote.

I was looking at Amazon to purchase the kit. Just unsure as to which model. One comes with remotes and one does not. I dont need new remotes. I saw one that appeared to be just the main module and no remotes. Is this the one I want???

    Thanks

I'm really not sure. I got my through the dealer. I have the Compustar remotes but just use my factory remotes. The Compustar remotes will give you a longer range to remote start.

So I’ve been reading through all the different post about this subject and I would like to narrow it down. I’m looking for something plug and play that can remote start my 4Runner and roll down the windows when it’s a billion degrees here in Saint Louis.

When you auto start your vehicle, when you go to open the door to get in does the vehicle turn off? Please let me know as I’m looking to get this same kit

You can roll down all windows with the factory key fob. Don't need any aftermarket parts. You either need the Carista obdii reader (Bluetooth) from Amazon for $20(?) or have the dealer do it (they'll probably charge you $60).

It's just a simple setting that needs to be changed.

Yeah I finally found the post that mentioned this. Now I’m trying to find out the difference between 12v and ACR besides 100.00

I have the 12volt with phone module. Easy install. Think it took 30mins. And done. Clean install. No issues. Can use key fob or phone app. Phone app has map to show u where it's at. Did the install myself. Very easy.
