I need help with new tire and wheel setup balance

so I got my wheels and tires put on at one shop drove down the road and the steering wheel was going nuts at around 50 mph so I figured I would take it to another shop. The second shop I had the tires road force balanced on a hunter system and almost a ton of stick on weights the best this guy could do, and I honestly could tell he was trying to get these tires and wheels in perfect condition. the road force for 1 was perfect the other three were at a road force of around 30-45 and the steering wheel still shakes at around 60 now. the wheels are the RRW RR2-s 17", the tires at falken wild peak LT265/70/17. any other options before I take it to another shop and waste another $60, the next option I can think of are maybe ET style acorn lug nuts.

 

Might be wheels also. I only put hub centric wheels on my Tacoma’s and 4runners. I learned the hard way when I put lug centric wheels on my Tacoma and I could not get rid of vibes.

There is such a huge selection of great wheels made especially for Toyota’s. There is no reason to put lug centric wheels on our vehicles and take any chances of ruining the perfect ride Toyota gave us when we drove off the lot.

I had the same problem. Got new tires at 1000 miles on my 2018 and three shops couldn't get them balanced. So weird. Went to the dealer for the 4th try and they nailed it.

 

I have 3 new tires on the way for the ones that arent balancing out maybe they are out of round or whatever but I will deff try that if it happens again, thank you.

 

Where’d you get the wildpeaks from? The ONLY thing that’s held me back on that tire is the reviews stating they had a hard time balancing em.

 

Your tire shop should have either of these setups to properly balance Toyota tires.

I’ve had good luck with removing and reinstalling the tire on the rim in a different spot. It moves some of the weight around. As far as a road force goes you may need to put some miles on the tires and then have them do it again. Tires can get flat spots from sitting on the shelf. Good luck!

 

I have had my BFG KO2's on our 4R for 10k miles and last weekend was the first time the tires were finally balanced properly. I have had them taken off and re-balanced 6 times and the tire shops have never gotten it right. I finally took it to a "Non-Box Store" (a local independent store that hires technicians not high school kids) and they found the tires were out of round. They worked a little magic and they are finally smooth. I am on the phone looking to warranty my KO2's next time it is due for a rotation or starts shaking again. Some people have had a lot of luck with balancing beads as well. I have never used beads on a daily car but might be worth a shot.

 

Now that you have found a place that can actually do what there job is, i would stick with them.

 

My friend is the manager of a tire store in the NW. The initials of the store is LS. They do not stock BFG tires and do not normally sell them. He has one customer that runs BFG's on several of his cars. When my friend has to order a set of tires he always orders 6. That way he can send back the 2 most out of round tires. Sometimes he still has to order an additional tire. This happens with street and off road tires.

So I am just waiting for my 3 tires that were "out of round" once I get them in I recently picked up some gorilla et lug nuts for extra grab on the lug and I will definitely ask them to use the adapter plates with the hunter system that they used already. I saw them use the basic screw the wheel down set up and not the adapter plates. thank you for all the responses so far.
