before I go dropping new wheel money, I have a question that I couldn’t find an answer to. I’m looking at purchasing some wheels that are 17x9 with a 38 mm backspace. The tire size I plan on running is 265/70/17. I will be ordering bilstein 5100’s with some Eibach springs. How much lift would I need for such a large amount of backspace to fit with little to no rubbing? Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Backspace or offset? 38 MM is very little backspace. This would push your wheels very far outward beyond the wheel wells. I would think you might rub the wheel wells if anything, which lift might not help with.

Being mm I’m guessing you meant offset?

    That's what I figured, too.

Assuming that's a positive offset, that will pull the rim towards the suspension quite a bit more than stock. Although, I'm not sure what the stock offset is.

If that's the case, you might need to run spacers with those rims. Or choose different rims

I think stock is +30 mm so it wouldn’t be far off. So if the wheel is 7.5” wide that would be about 5 1/4” backspacing :notsure: which I think would contact the control arm. So would definetly need wheel spacers maybe 1 1/4”. Then if your doing 5100’s and Eibach springs your going to get 2.5”-3” lift so I would think you’ll be ok.
I’m running 265/70r17 on oem wheels with 1.25” spacers and 2” lvling kit. Had to move the front inner fender forward but good other than that.

Another thing to consider is that with that much lift, you might want to get aftermarket upper control arms.

Possibly. might be ok but if off roading a lot the oem ball joints will wear much quicker.

Makes sense. I'll admit I don't know a lot about the 4th gens despite having owned an '03 for 12 years. I never modded it. I just put in gas and changed the oil and drove the shit out of it. Sometimes I still miss the torque of that v8:)

Yes, my fault, the offset is -38mm not +38. The backspace is 3.5” and the width of the rim is 9”. It’s the SCS F5 wheel. The do also make a version of the wheel that is -10 mm offset but I love the look of the -38’s...
