Im looking to mount a kayak on my roof rack with these sloted rails. I can think of a few ways to go about it with different style mounts; just wondering if anyone else has a solid mounting setup they use and would recommend. Ive never roof mounted kayaks before.

The easiest way to do it is to turn your kayak upside down and center it on the rack. 2 tie downs, 1 for the front and 1 for the back. Take both tie downs and go under the crossbar, over the kayak, under the crossbar on the other side and over the kayak again back to the original side and cinch them tight.

No need to go through the slotted rails or use any auxiliary mounts.

I throw a 12 foot Canoe on top of mine with the stock roof rack...should hold a small kayak geez?

No doubt, was just looking at different mounting options. There's a handful.
