Hey y’all first post here but been in 4runners for about 8 years now. Finally going to level up to a 4x4 and was about ready to pull the trigger on a 2017 TRD with only 6k miles. However I did some more research and turns out the 2020s will finally have the TSS and Apple Car Play. So my question.. is it worth the wait? My current SR5 is only on 146k, which isnt much for a runner but as far as resale/trade-in value goes I could put on another 10-15k easy which would bring value down. Interior stuff is starting to fall apart (glove box wont stay closed, plastic covers coming off, etc) and I really don’t want to put more money into my current vehicle. Not to mention I’ve got that new car bug. All the TSS features are super helpful and apple car play would be nice. I’m planning on driving this new 4x4 until the wheels fall off. Thoughts?

Welcome! If you like all the bling techy stuff already on it then yes the 2020 would be worth the wait.

I'd personally wait for it if I was in your shoes. The issues you mention about your current ride are very minor. If you're interested in Apple Car Play and TSS, then you'll be bummed if you get a '19 a few months before the '20 comes out.

Yeah the more I think about it, that’s the smart thing to do. Ik 4runner’s aren’t about the tech but the safety features come in handy, carplay is just a plus.

    Welcome!

Personally I would buy a 2019 before Toyota starts ruining it with the 2020. More tech is not always more better.

Agreed and you can always get a aftermarket head unit that would be better to begin with and has carplay and Android auto

After much thought I went and bought the 2019. We have a 2017 Highlander with the safety features, but I feel very comfortable with the 4Runner. Plus, the cost will be higher and we received a very good deal on the 19. Agreed with others who said we don't know what they will end up doing to the 4runner in the future. I am enjoying the "low tech" model. :) Either way you will end up with a good vehicle. :bananadance:

My fealings exactly. I was REALLY looking forward to the green in the pro 2020 but just the thought of TSS being on it made me buy my 2019. I don’t need toyota telling me how to drive and allow all the other idiots an easier way to text and drive.
I really feel the 2019 will be more valuable to people later for the lack of TSS.

When do the 2020s typically appear on dealer lots?
