im getting 17’ TRD wheels and want to know what the best/ most bag for your buck all terrain tire. The 4runner is my everyday driver, but also take it on trails. Want something thats more aggressive and isn’t too loud.

    Thank you

Lots of opinions and not sure there is a best. I like KO2’s or Hankook DynaPro.

I just switched from BFG KM (Mud) to KO2. It looks good, ride smoother and so quiet. I’m glad I switched to it. My buddy has Toyo ATII and I liked them but I enjoyed the ride of the KO2 better than the ATII. IMHO only.

I have the C load KO2's in the stock 265/70/17's and they have been stellar with any terrain I have thrown at them so far. Great in the snow. They are getting louder as they age but I'm sure that is an issue with any tire. They look great on the 4. They have about 28000 miles on them and still have tons of tread left. I hope to get 60-70K out of them but time will tell. They do need to be religiously rotated every 5000 miles. They do like to grab rocks but I have sliders so they just get bounced off them. Good luck with your search.

I put the Toyo AT II on my SR5 in December. Just about to hit 5k miles and have zero complaints. They are louder than the stock bridgestone highway tires it had on it, but nothing to complain about. I have used them on very light mud roads and they were fine. The stock size, p265/70 R17 has a 65k warranty.
They also have an extreme model with a more aggressive side wall.
I got mine through tirebuyer.com, had them installed at pep boys, with lifetime rotation for $650.

Apparently in December, I got a hell of a deal. There were discounts that I don't see online now. They are $175 now with no discounts.

Mine is an 2018 SR5. Does this change anything without it being lifted?

Nope. Not if you stick with the stock size. 265/70/17. Mine is not lifted either

I got mine at Discount Tire. Also check Tire rack. Discount Tire price matched Tire racks price when I purchased mine

:D Well don't rule out the others. Do your due diligence. I'm sure there are other good choices but the KO2's have been solid for me. Some people don't like them, I may or may not purchase them again but that decision has nothing to do with any complaints about them. Just may want to try something else.

Consider this if you are looking for best bang for your buck (Falken wildpeak). Ultra quiet on the road and has the aggressive look you are going for. This is the P-rated version, but the E rated is slightly more expensive, but still a lot cheaper than other alternatives.

I could have gotten these however with my deals for KO2 only $20 difference total for a set that’s why I went KO2 however lots of good reviews with Falken.

You did well - BFG's are ordinarily very expensive given the brand recognition.

I run the falken tires on my tacoma and love the ride (much better in terms of noise and road manners than my previous tires, which were goodyear duratracs. I still have good vibes on the duratracs, but felt the falkens were a better tire overall and much cheaper). Planning to run the falkens on my wife's T4R in a 275/55/20 format once her current tires are ready to be replaced.

Lots of good choices. Cooper AT3's, Nitto Ridge Grapplers, BFG's just to name a few.

Use this as a general guide. You should be fine if you plan to use 265/70/17 with the TRD rims.

@Tstrang if it is a daily driver and gas mileage is a concern, stick with a stock 265/70R17. Those ko2s are considerably heavier than stock. The Toyos are only about 1 or 2 lbs heavier, the ko2s are almost 10 lbs.

@Webfoots can you send me a link to those. My SR5 came with Bridgestones. Are you talking about the stock tires for a pro if you get that?

Hankook Dynopros or Cooper AT3 4S would my choices for your daily driver. My 4Runner isn't a daily driver so that's why I have the Cooper ST Maxx mounted on it. It's the best AT tires IMHO, it's borderline mud tires so it's pretty aggressive.

What size? I have the gray TRD Pro wheels and keep hearing that 285s aren't the best fit since it's only 7" wide

As someone with 2 pickups and now a T4R I can say I have had my experience with tires!
My 2 pickups are plow trucks & a good friend also plows with me. Since installing the Goodyear Duratracs on all 3 trucks over a few years. We will not change!
We used Nitto terra grapplers (would snow pack & not self clear), Grabber AT2 was just a tire.
The duratracs are the best of all worlds!
Minimal noise, great looks & amazing performance!
So upon delivery of the new T4R we had to ditch the mall crawlers for a real tire!
Are they "the best"? I don't know. I do know we own 3 sets for our 3 vehicles and my snow plow partner put them on his truck!
My T4R & F-250 are stock while my Ram has 35" tires. I love them all!
Only a week old so limited pics as of now...
It was raining the day I got the tires.
If rain is an issue look into tires with good siping!20190312_153014.jpg
