Hey everyone so I'm a brand new owner of a 95 second gen and really the worst part of the car is the condition of the hood and roof.

    See here

Realistically what would you do in this situation? I think it's fair to say that doing an entire repaint on this truck would cost me 2 to 3x what I paid for it at least. Would you consider having a shop just paint the roof and hood and try to blend it in? Does it make sense to just leave it as is and only deal with it if it becomes bare metal and rusts? To be totally honest the look doesn't bother me that much. Obviously I would love if the paint was beautiful but it's 30 years old and I got what I got. Just looking for any advice and trying to hear what you all think. Note that besides these problem areas the paint is actually pretty immaculate.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
If I were you, I'd seriously consider a LineX paint job. That stuff never fades and gives additional protection against rock chips, trail rash and other scratches or swirls.

The down side it: That paint job is forever. So if you get it you need to be 300% sure on the color you want.

Welcome from Wisconsin! You could get the trouble spots repainted, a good body shop can adjust for paint fade and such. Do you have any estimates?

There's many options. Just have to research which is right for you and your budget. Bedliner, dip, wrap, paint. All good options.

No estimates yet but I was leaning toward this. I have to imagine this is much cheaper than a full respray. I guess I'll have to check with a few shops and see what their confidence level is of being able to blend it and have it not look stupid

According to the Internet, most of the repainting cost is in masking and removing the various trims pieces, so hood+roof will be cheaper than whole-vehicle.

Right exactly. And the hood would just be removed which is even easier. Ill definitely get some quotes

Normally the larger chain and dealer linked type of body shops will charge lots more as most of their work is linked to insurance claim work.

try to find a smaller shop to get a quote. This type of shop is usually on the “other side” town.
