I am a new 4Runner owner and am on a budget does anyone have any suggestions for cheaper minor upgrades or suspension upgrades that aren’t insanely high priced?

    Welcome.
You need to expand on what your personal definition of "budget" is.

    Welcome to the forum.

Do not cheap out on such an awesome "As is" vehicle. If you do any lighting upgrades research on here first as you can encounter multiple issues based on the install.

My suggestion would be to save until you can buy a quality suspension. Suspension is not something you want to try and save money on. My Eibach were about 1,900 installed. No regrets and the ride is amazing. Bilstein is another great shock and will cost you about the same. I wouldn’t go with any other brands. Yes there are some others like Fox and Old Man Emu etc but those cost more. Dont go with Rancho or others. You will be horribly disappointed. Maybe start with upgrades in other places. Plus once you lift it, in my opinion it looks stupid if you don’t also go with bigger tires. The tires will cost you an additional $1,600. What about a roof rack. Then you can build off that. Add lighting etc.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
    What is your budget?

Are you a broke-ass college grad living pay check to paycheck, or are you a guy pushing 50yrs old, who makes over 100k per year with a lot of disposable income?

For everyone wondering the current budget will be around 5k but will probably save and wait to do suspension for a bit

My Dobinsons IMS suspension was $2,100-ish plus installation just to give you another idea on what a quality aftermarket suspension could cost you.

If i were you, i would start with just a solid deep cleaning both exterior and interior since your 4runner is new to you. Can't knock a good looking clean car. Whats the maintenance history on it? Might need to put a little money into some fluid changes, filters, etc.

You might want to check market place and see. Many times folks take the TRD pro suspension on those models to upgrade to something bigger and better. The fox trd pro is a good deal if priced right. Good luck.

There’s a whole thread on inexpensive mods. @ChessGuy have good advice above. To that point, the suspension post linked in my sig may be helpful. Read from the bottom up to go chronologically.
