I agree with you. It takes me at least 1.5 hours to change the 4Runner oil including clean up. It’s a huge pain in the ass having to remove the three skid plates and deal with the cartridge filter. My Tacoma on the other hand requires no skid plate removal and the oil filter is on top of the engine. That takes about a half an hour and not one drop of oil is spilled.

I like having real skids with access.

Somewhat off-topic but I just did a bunch of preventative work for a friend's Voyager (Pacifica) and the manual-specified 5 qt of oil only went up to the low mark on the dipstick. (van was level, checked both immediately after filling and after waiting while I searched the net in confusion)

Apparently there's a lot of variation from different oil pans on the same engine, factory equipment, etc. despite the manual and sometimes Chrysler declaring 5 qt confidently for this application.

It looks like it's a whole debate on par with our plastic vs. metal oil filter housing on the forums.

I'll split the difference next time but Stellantis please, it shouldn't be this complicated.

Lol it doesn't take 10 minutes to drain the oil pan even on a stone cold engine. You also don't need to use ramps. But if you want to dick around in the garage thats permissible

Here's my timeline from this morning's oil change.
9:35 pull 4runner out and warm up to operating temp and dump old oil from drain pan from last change.
9:43 gather tools and oil container.
9:48 drain oil from fumoto (takes 7 minutes to drain) and remove skid cover for oil filter. (RCI front skid)
9:50 pull oil filter drain cap off and install drain valve.
9:53 Remove filter housing and clean. Lube O-rings and install new filter and O-rings.
10:00 Close Fumoto and install filter housing. Replace O-ring at bottom of housing and tighten filter housing the rest of the way. re-install skid cover.
10:05 Pour in new oil. (6.6 qts.)
10:06 Start engine and check for leaks
10:07 put tools away and go for road test.

People keep time of their drain events? I'm busy emptying the catch can, greasing the front shaft and rear if it landed in the right spot all while singing All Star by Smashmouth the entire time.

I was just joking but I generally let it drain for ten minutes or so while doing other things.

I'm thinking of the RCI skid plate which has access to filter and drain plug.

Are there still access panels that need to be removed though?
