Just traded an ‘08 TRD off-road Tacoma pampered with many mods and only 54K on the odometer for the ‘24 limited with only 11K. Reasons being wanting to travel more and taking the pups along. I’m looking at the 4Runner as being my old truck but more comfortable with a “climate controlled bed” with lots of room especially with the 2nd row seats down. Stayed with gen 5 account of the V6 and being able to find exactly what I wanted without waiting months for a build with money down. Just prefer the gen 5 looks also. Will be driving this one a long time.

    Congrats!

Yes, I prefer the looks of the 5th generation model, over the 6th gen, more every time I see a new one. New ones are too plasticky.

FWIW, I put Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 tires on my 24 Limited for our road trip use case and they are incredible. More stable and better riding than the so-so Yokohama Geolandar 96G original tires. Very highly recommended!

Edit: FWIW, I just replaced the old tires on my wife's 2017 Lexus NX200T today with the passenger car version of the Michelin Defenders (80k mile warranty! and DOT date 2025) and love the improvement with her car's ride and handling.

Of course I have 17 inch wheels on my '19 TRD Off Road Premium, but the Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires I found on my vehicle when I bought it with 82,000 miles on it provide a well composed, stable ride at 70-80 mph, and with towing. And they're quite well suited to Forest Service gravel roads and tracks. I can't say they're great on winding asphalt roads, but I haven't enough experience with any other tires to say if they're better or worse than other choices. I run a lot of pressure, but the sidewall is so tall, how much car like characteristics can you expect?

The limited is nice with its less angry-boy body work.

I’m on my second set of Defender LTX M/S. First set I ran for 83,000 miles. Absolutely insane. Love these tires.

That's a damn good choice.. Congrats..!!

I myself want to buy another 5th gen and keep it for my kid. Every time when I see someone buy a low miles 5th gen I feel sad for myself my wife not allowing me to buy yet as she doesn't understand that I'm loosing chance of finding a newer 5th gen with low miles, no accidents and have good service records is getting slim.

I have no interest in newer Toyotas with gas turbo engines.

i had my '24 ORP in for service at the Toyota dealer yesterday and had an hour to wander around the showroom.

They had a '25 ORP on the showrooom floor. It was white and the contrast between the white and black fender flares was horrible. The exterior plastic trim all looks flimsy and like it would fall apart quickly. I also hated the wheels on it.... also very cheap looking.

I actually like the interior. It definitely felt more snug than the 5th gen..... but I liked the seats (much more supportive)...... I also liked most of the materials. Felt like good quality. Everything felt solid. I liked all the little storage spaces and the molle like treatment on the map pockets. The only thing that was truly horrible and a complete non-starter was the big infotainment monitor. Horrible. I could never live with that along with the lack of real gauges.

Sticker price was $63k.... more than $10k more than my '24.

No regrets with my '24 ORP.

I know it won't help any but my 23 ORP with KDSS was stickered at 47k, which was already several K more than 2022 models.

If Toyota can find buyers for ORP at 63k, more power to them. Not me though. I would rather spend that on a low mileage J200, and lightly used GX460 are going for 15k less than that.

Believe it . . . OR not - Michelin Defenders are astoundingly good off-road!

LOL I should clarify that I have two 23 ORPs. I do wish they had the pre-facelift faces from circa 2010-2013

This is gonna ruffle some feathers...but in the "off roading" I have done, oddly enough one with the Dueller and one with the grandtek, did just fine. A little slippage here and there on the loose stuff but with the rear locker on, nothing really got sketchy once I air down a bit. And both tires are fine with my driving over Highways 152,17 and 1 in winter storms.

I know I can get much more robust tires for both on road and off road but for those who spend most of their time onroad, I don't know, swapping them out just to do mostly pavement driving didn't make sense to me.

Coming over from automobiles that wear out tires in more like 30,000 miles, much as I would like a spare pair of wheels and tires for my '19 Off Road Premium, there's no way I can "use up" two sets of 70,000 mile tires in the time period when the rubber in these tires is in optimal condition (age wise).

You want everything to swap one over? Like everything everything? I even have the harness to change the headlight wiring to the H11 so you can swap around.
