Im going to start undercoating vehicles with an oil based product vs the traditional “tar” method, and due to the oil mist that the product introduces to the shop, decided to build an enclosed room for the lift where the product will be applied. It’s been a rewarding project seeing I’m doing most of the work, but best of all I like how it’s improved the unused area of my shop. Today I installed the roll up door which I’m very impressed with. Old school chain operated and seals off nicely! Made the barn door out of 1x pine and painted it to look like old wood. Tomorrow the black metal goes around the roll up door, going to get the floor ground and polished then install a 4 post lift. Should be ready for operating by March 1.

Here’s some LED light strips I thought I’d try that I bought about a year ago. They actually do a nice job lighting up the room. Well see how long they last......I couldn’t resist at $20 per strip (9 strips)8760EF6E-7FF4-4A0B-95AC-A6FD99F3FDC8.jpg

More like NHOU....big in Canada and New England. Just took on the territory by me. It’s also good for engine compartment detailing, and they are coming out with their own ceramic coating product.

Very cool shop that barn door looks great. I’ve never seen concrete floors shine like that I would be afraid to mess them up. So this undercoating is a one time application?

There’s a couple different products. One is strictly oil based and should be applied annually. Cars run about $145 per application. The other product is an oil/wax type product that can only be applied on new vehicles. That’s a one time application retailing around $695.00. Somewhat labor intensive because there’s a lot of masking off of drive shaft, exhaust, wheel wells etc.

Why is the oil/wax type product only for new vehicles? Is the other similar to fluid film?

You can do it on any vehicle but their recommendation is new vehicles because probably because they don’t want to encapsulate any pre existing rust. I have a formal training scheduled in Boston next month so I’ll get filled in on all of the details.

It’s an amazing product. I bought a 5 gallon bucket of a competitors product and installed it on my wifes new 4 Runner, my 2017 Dodge Ram, my Buddy’s 2004 Dodge Ram, and my 2006 4 Runner I bought from my Daughter. I was thoroughly impressed and researched the product. Found NHOU and I felt they were geared more towards dealers giving their customers more options to suit their needs. It’s definitely a product that is just now taking off at a rapid pace. Looking forward to getting the word out locally. I’m going under the name Metal Guard USA.

Sounds like a great product! I’m sure you’ll do well especially in the salt belt and not many people are into the diy stuff in general. You give them a reasonable price and quick turnaround and all you’ll have to do is get the word out people will pay for the peace of mind alone. Best of luck to you.

Well I wish you lived closer. I don't have access to a lift and I Fluid Film yearly. It would definitely be worth that price to not have to crawl under the 4, in the dirt, with a disposable paint suit, rubber gloves, and a respirator on.
