@legend1011 Curious if you made a selection and/or completed the install? If so, would love to see some pics!

I went with the Eibach Stage 2 kit on my 2024 ORP w/o kdss. The install was pretty easy and it rides pretty good, but I'm not sure it's much firmer than stock. It nosedives a little less, but I think I may switch to something firmer eventually. Oh, I only went up 2 and quarter-ish inches in the front and one in the rear; I was looking to retain stock uca's, which I have. Here are a couple shots of it right after a good washing.

Looks awesome! The metallic blue is also my favorite T4R color.

I don’t get any nosedive with the Bilsteins but the 600 pound springs might help that out

Not yet. I had the truck completely ripped apart finishing some electronic/stereo mods… will probably get to this next year as I have list of house projects I need to finish up now (wife is tired of me modding the 4Runner :D )

    my list for next year:
-Lift (undecided, but will re-visit this thread… most likely Bilstein, but I don’t want to raise too much)
-New Tires (not a big mod, but better than oem tires we have … wanting to burn the tread up a bit more)
    - painting emblems

I have a Gobi rack on order that should be ready in 1-2 weeks and that about wraps it up for me this year with the 4Runner.

Bump… on a 2024 TRD Off-road Premium, what setup is needed with the 6112 (front) and 5100 (rear) to match a TRD Pro? I am considering matching that setup… if it is close, I’m leaning slightly higher.

pricing things out and want to get the right stuff and settings… thank you!

If you are trying to “match” what the pro come with, you need 1” of front lift and a shock to match the valving of what you use on the front coilovers.
Pros come with 2” Shocks w/ 1” lift in the front and remote reservoir rear shocks.
Bilstein 6112/5160 are valve matched according to Bilstein.
    5100’s are valved differently.

    Thank
Thank you. I will look at the 5160 (with the remote reservoir) a little closer. On this note, I'm planning on sticking with the TRD ORP stock rims for a while. Considering upgrading to the TRD Pro rims eventually (grey version). My stock tire size 265/70R17 is what I plan to stick with, but may consider slight bigger tires (275?) eventually. I just want to find a good setup for me and I think this hits the mark. I plan on buying stuff around Black Friday, so have some time to research. Thank you!

Do a little "Reviews" homework on the 5160s, they don't sound that great to me. I have 6112/5100 on my 24 ORP. 2.7" front, 1" rear, and 5100 front/rear on my 2001 Tundra. I have pics in my profile if you're interested.

I’ve seen these before. Interesting to say the least.
These test were done on a Taco with no weight in the rear. Comparing all of those same shocks on a T4R would be better for us to compare. I had a taco and keeping the low weight rear in controlled contact was always challenging.

I still like how my combo work(s)(ed) on my T4R’s. (Previous and Current)

I can't imagine there's a significant performance difference between the 4Runner and the Tacoma.

6100 rear shocks should be coming out later this year, would be perfect with 6112

Not going to argue this point.
The T4R weight ratios front to rear are definitely different than a Taco’s.
The T4R will definitely be more planted in the rear than a Taco.

coil spring rear (4rnr) vs leaf spring (Taco). Theres the difference. Its not apples to apples.

And on top of it all, the 4runner is probably a lot shorter than most tacoma models as well. Also the rear C channel frame and the cab/bed separation of the Tacomas means it’s MUCH more torsionally flexible compared to the fully boxed frame of the 4runner.

Generally, the front suspension architecture of both is pretty similar, but all the other differences above means that they are very different animals, dynamically speaking.

My bad. But I still think the 5100s are the better option if for no better reason than the factory warranty. Lifetime vs 2 years.

agreed about 5100’s. I have them front and rear on my 2011 and rear on my 2022. Also had them on my 2007 SR5 (miss her)

I’m not the OP, but I’ve asked a few questions along the way in this thread. After driving myself crazy for months, the great info and discussion here got me to finally make a move! I went with the Bilstein 5100’s all around with stock springs, front set for .85” lift. Got them installed last week, initial impressions…. excellent! As others have said, these feel like the shocks that should have come from the factory on the ORP. They checked all the boxes for me: reduced rake from 2” to about 1”, firmed up the handling nicely, and reduced the braking nose dive.

Agree totally and matches my experience with my 2019 4R SR5. I went even more budget I just did 5100’s in the from set at .85 on stock springs nothing done to the stock rear and made most of if not all the improvements you mentioned. It’s what should have been stock from the factory.
