Hey y’all. I’m new here. Made the change to a 4runner from a 24 Tundra. Picked up a 2017 SR5 premium with a little over 100k on it and I’m loving it!

so I bought the vehicle with a 2” leveling kit on it and it’s drove like
crap. After sending it to off-road warehouse, for an alignment and balance, then to Toyota for another alignment. They still didn’t get it right. I decided to take it to mechanic. Threw in a track bar alignment kit, some freedoms industry UCAs as well as all new bilstein 5100s front and back. Sent back to Toyota for another alignment. Car drives way better but now I still have some left side drift and pull and steering wheel is just slightly tilted out of whack to the right. I also feel it sway quite a bit.
I read extended sway bar end links help with the sway? but any suggestions in regards to the pulling to the left and tilted steering wheel? Is it just a shitty alignment from BOTH spots or maybe something else? Toyota printed me out the alignment specs stating they can’t adjust the camber on these guys? But the rest they got to specs.

Mine is leveled 1.6 - 2.0 (approximately at the time) lift. Here are my specs it drives great. Don’t know why 2 shops can’t get it right on your vehicle.

Damn, that a great alignment report - everything green. Why did you take it in though, it seems like they didnt even touch anything in the before and after.

My mistake, wrong one. That was just a checkup of alignment.

Here is a shot after 6112’s installed.

lol, you made me feel better. I too take my 4R in for an alignment check as well. Learned the hard way by having to replace two Toyo AT3s that sill had a lot of tread on them but were damaged because of it being out of alignment. Now every 6 months I take it in for a check. (the checks are free)

Yes, mine came back in the positive too, but it’s still pulling and steering wheel wonky. I’ll see if I can find my report and share

I mean some alignment shops can never get it right but at some point I'd be looking at different issues.

    yep bought from Toyota
    Clean car fax

I’ve had a mechanic check it out too.
I’m gonna throw some extended sway bar links at it and maybe take it to truline and see if that helps

these are my specs before and after Toyota. Then I had to take it AGAIN for another one and it still feels like I have bump steer and I’m all over the place

Then these are the most recent specs, afyer another alignment. Mind you I’ve got a 2” spacers and Billstein 5100s on stock shocks, did the KDSS track bar correction and new freedom industry UCAs

Welcome from Wisconsin! These specs are all over the place! The guy that does my alignment is a outside the box thinker, and when the specs were where they were supposed to be, the mechanic and I went for a ride... pulled to right, steering wheel like yours. He drove it and said he had an idea. we went back to the shop, he applied his fix and it drove like a champ! Now both sides are slightly different, compensating for crown in the road etc. Tech is a stock car racer.. part time and does his own alignment on the car. Not saying you have to find a guy like this, but you need to find a tech with the outside the box attitude. Can't set the camber on these guys? You most certainly can, just because the tech works at Toyota doesn't mean he knows squat! Find a "real" alignment guy and you'll be happy... hopefully.

So the spot I went to the last time was not Toyota it was 4wheel parts. The guys gave me a similar speech stating they account for crown of road and all the jazz, but it still feels sloppy.

It's a 4runner thing. They all feel sloppy. My alignment is spot on, does not pull, brand new tires , no bald spots but then some days it just wants to go right if it's too windy. Then on some it wants to go left if the sun is shining to bright.
I have driven 2 newer 4runners as well and they all drove a little sloppy. As long as it's not eating my tires, I don't care.

Yeah I am starting to wonder if it’s just the way it is. Thanks for the confirmation. I’m coming from Land Cruiser so it’s a different feel for sure, but at least I know I’m not crazy and it’s a known thing

I had a LC200 as well. Do not compare that to the 4runner. The LC200 despite it's added weight had better road manners, predictable handling, did not feel skittish and still provided a very soft ride. The 4runner is all over the place on OEM suspension.

Maybe someone else can explain why the camber is so far out.
Is it the " 2” spacers and Billstein 5100s on stock shocks (coils ?), and new freedom industry UCAs" ?

OP... Are the spacers actually 2"?
Wouldn't that lift your front 4"?

sounds like none of them l know theyre doing. I have a 2” lift in the front, stock upper and lower CA’s, toe is dead middle and caster is pushed as far as it can go and camber is within spec. Dead straight on the hwy (even 85+) and feel planted and tight.

stock sway bar links front and ream and oem track bar rear

its not supposed to feel that way. My 2007, 2011 and 2022 all had 2” lifts stock uca’s and never felt wishy washy or wandered on the road.

i wonder if his tires track the road imperfectionst or crowns too easily.

Extended sway bar links all suck, because they fail in a year or two, which lets your sway bar contact the CV joint and destroys it.
