    Hello all,

Every morning, my 4runner's steering wheel shakes for approx 5-10min going 55mph. After-which, it drives perfectly normal for the rest of the day. At first, I was thinking it was a tire/balance issue, but if that were the case, why does the problem go away? I've also gotten the tires rotated and it still occurs. Could this be a power steering issue?

    TIA

    Welcome....

What you are more than likely feeling are the flat spots that develop when the vehicle is sitting overnight.
Some tires are worse than others in this regards.

^^^hes right. You could try getting them re balanced (road forced balanced) it might help

Interesting, I have never had this happen before on any vehicles prior. I have factory Off road Nittos on TRD wheels, and this has been an issue since the beginning.

I had the exact issue. 5-10 min of highway driving and the vibration is gone. It's especially bad on colder days.

It's most likely related to flat spots. My truck came with a set of cheap ling long AT's that were a SL load. As soon as I switched to Mickey Thompson Baja Boss in LT load, the issue pretty much is non-existent (knock on wood it never comes back). Get quality tires, and get em road force balanced, especially with the TRD wheels which are lug centric and not hub centric.

You need new tires 100%. Probably cupping, rotating won’t help it. I had the same issue. I went to the extreme to end the steering wheel shake.

I did 4 new rotors, 4 new pads, new Toyos tires, new mount/balance & alignment. Also new caliper pins in the front. My truck drives soooo good now

That is extreme! Mine only has 23000 miles so I rather not waste money on new tires yet, but I'm hopeful that's all I need to change. Do you think BFG's will have the same issue?

I've been through this myself, and a lot of us have. It's the tires, focus there and you'll find the problem. You could have a bad tire, even if they're only 2 years old.

No probably not. I might have gotten away not replacing my rotors, but when they did the mount & balance; My passenger tires weights were in the same spot but on my driver side wheels, they def moved the weights. That and a new alignment & my shitty old ass duratracs was probably it. My truck has 99k miles & needed new pads anyways

Mine had the same thing.... 55-65mph only.... I had all 4 tires remounted and rebalanced and it fixed it for me. (Toyo OC AT3's). At the time I also had them line up the valve stems with the yellow circles on the tires.

Can one of you explain the yellow circles please? Use lots of small words so I can understand. Are they a Toyo-only thing? Are the tires marked with the circle at the lightest part of the tire or something? Also, are those Toyos SL, C, or E load?

SL load - its an initial alignment symbol from the factory. Most tires have them with company variants

Welcome from Wisconsin! We had a similar issue once and we fixed it by adjusting inflation. Try to stay on the upper side of your tire inflation range, I found 37-38 psi the sweet spot for us, and had the tires remounted with yellow dots aligned with valve stem, then road force balancing.... smooth as silk. The tire inflation chart was on the forum here somewhere.

My Wildpeaks get flat spots quick. A day or two. Real bad if I let it sit for 2 weeks.

Yellow circles on tires indicate the lightest point on the tire.
The red dot indicates the tire's high point
