I just bought one looks like they put a cigarette butt out on the roof. But hey its original. Battery compartment's all corroded. Takes a "D" to get the horn working.

I took a gamble on the Texas Special did not see the inside. As soon as I tried to open the battery compartment the screw broke. So I drilled it out, new screw, amazing how clean it is inside Like brand new. Horn started working well after shorting it a few times with a 9volt battery. The "D" battery is working the horn, Thats what I was worried about. I installed a couple portholes and a 2245 marker. I think I doubled my money cause I didnt see anything this cool at the train show.

 

Im giving a current model from Amazon a shot. It connects to an app and you still control it conventionally. It went up $60.00 right after ordered it. Has the "five stripe" Pa decal.

 

You can actually record messages and record play them back.
Like "Dont forget to unplug me or you'll burn the house down".

 

I got one coming from Georgia! For a third of the price. From year 2000. Look what they are going for now.

 

With this I can unhook/hook couplers with my cellphone too. Maybe put in a "switch Y" and move them around a bit.

Scored an Army GP-7. Had a short, took it apart and moved wires around and fixed it. Even has Smoke!

 

This engine does not move. Try to save a few hundred?
Its the same size as my Challenger. I thought it was bigger.

 

GP-7 1955-56, horn dont work I have to short it with a 9volt.

 

My husband is building out his train/s from his childhood. The first things he fixed was the whistling tender and smoking engine. I know when he’s working on them because he blows the whistle before anything else. I like it. Super cool.

 

Well, to run the 4-8-8-2, you need a 72 inch curve. My track is like 60 inche wide half circle. So it will not make it. I can either install a track in the garage like your husband. 72 inch diameter circle maybe. Or take a full refund with a shipping label? I mean the 4-6-6-4 Challenger makes the 60 turn fine. I would buy another.
This 4-8-8-2 was not tested I took a gamble. Im not taking it apart.

 

I wish we had a garage big enough but we don’t. He took over the downstairs walk out basement. It’s cool, I had originally set-up that area for a live-in caregiver so she would have a nice TV area but my dad passed away. The big flat screen TV remains along with an “L” shaped train platform: two 4x8 plywood sheets. It’s going to be a lifetime project, with a tunnel, round house, town, & two tracks, two trains. I’ve been looking for some cool cars for birthday and/or Christmas presents, but they are pricey. I’ll keep looking, something will come up.

 

I race them. Tonight I will attempt to run 6 trains at one time!

 

I just put it on my credit card. Figure I can sell them, double my money, then pay the interest back and some.

Too funny. It again reminds me of the Aadam’s Family, but the newer movie, not the original black & white TV series. Here’s the clip.

 

I would try and do a 20 foot wide track. Im pulling 18 cars with the Army GP-7 and it still has power for more. Single motor.

 

Well, that's outa here. That's why I like dealing with "Trainz" but, If its not tested you take a risk. But hey they refunded shipping both ways and the tax. I may get the tested one its like 2 bills more.

 

This has "gold" in the reversing unit?
