I installed the Diode Dynamics HitchMount LED light. It was pretty straight forward, but I found ways to make it take longer. :)

I dropped the spare tire, which made it much easier. I needed to check the pressure anyway.
I wasn't too keen on the loose wires, so I wrapped it with old bicycle inner tube rubber.
I also wasn't too keen on how far out the light sticks from the receiver hitch when installed as designed. So I drilled a small hole in the side, just about where the red dot is shown below.
    upload_2025-7-23_11-51-44.png
Then I used a zip tie to hold it in place. I don't use the hitch often, but if I do need it, it's easy enough to cut the zip tie.

It seemed like the tabs that retain the light in the plastic sleeve were pivoting out a bit when the round raised parts were squeezed in, so I ground them down. I didn't want the light to slip out of the plastic sleeve.

Is this light bright enough at night to be worthwhile?

Installed a Viofo A329 dash cam on my 2015 SR5P. The front camera slides off the mounting plate to the right, so I mounted it on the right side of the mirror mount. I remembered to check that the lens was in the windshield area that is swept by the wiper. Next is to mount the rear camera, and for now I'll tape the cable to the headliner. Once it's been installed for a week or so with no issues, I'll hide the cable and install the hardwire kit. I ordered a bracket for the rear camera from an etsy seller. While the A pillar trim piece is off, I'll also install Jason's grab handle bracket and then the driver's side grab handle.

I got these on Amazon and they're a massive improvement over OEM in the interior tailgate light locations. They fit fine in the tailgate. But they were just a little too big for the dome light even though it's the correct sized bulb.

I gave my 4Runner a good wax job. Applied paste wax, buffed in with small hand held buffer, removed wax with an old pair of cotton sweat pants, buffed again with a 10" buffer. First heavy duty wax job since I purchased it around Father's Day last year. Also gave it a good vacumn, washed the windows in and out, and did a little touch up on the rear bumper after scratching it in a couple of spots unloading a boxed up new toilet.

Well folks, it's been a fun ride in my 4Runner. But I traded it in on another Tacoma. Went down a few years to a 2019. But Carvana made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Got one in the Calvary Blue color. Don't see that color much floating around. Thanks for all the wonderful mod ideas I got from here. Until next time!

(my mom checking out the new truck -- she loves the color)

You'll thank yourself a thousand times that you mounted Jason's bracket and the DS grab handle.

Congrats. What model year do you have. Have you had to make any repairs to get to 200K?

A lot of little things over the years. Brand new OEM suspension. Front Wheel bearings, fuel pump, charcoal canister, purge valve, evap
hose O ring, new windshield , timing tensioner
cover plate, serpentine belt, vvti line gaskets from the top of my head. Apart from 5-10k oil and other fluid changes.
This has been as reliable as my Camry, Fortuner, Sonata or CRV.

Dangit! Took a rock to the windshield the other day on the interstate and it has started to spread, I guess a new windshield is in my near future

Thanks! You are correct, its not that bad in the grand scheme of things. This is a very well put together vehicle.
But I will change the water pump, thermostat, idlers, tensioners, belt and alternator brushes in the near future.
I will keep it as long as I can or as long as it does not drop oil on the floor, whichever comes first.

This came in the mail. I don't like putting stickers but this is nice.Suggestions where this can go while being discreet? It has adhesive on the back.

Door or hatch jams? Maybe under the hood?

Hatch jam sounds like a great idea. Even under the hood. But I think the heat will eventually ruin it.

Was this a question for me regarding this post on the receiver hitch light? https://www.4runners.com/threads/wh...-gen-4runner-today.2261/page-1344#post-746954

I got it mostly for the extra brake light with the flash. There are so many people that are not paying close enough attention that I wanted the additional visibility. I think it is working for that purpose.

I had the chance to test out the reverse light early yesterday morning, and I did notice the difference. It provided more light in a flood light type pattern, lighting up more than my stock reverse lights. Visibility in my reverse camera was good, I didn't notice any washing out due to extra light.

Is the extra reverse lighting worth it? I'm not sure I would have bought it for that alone. But I'm happy to have that along with the extra visibility.
