My Dad has factory remote start on his GMC and it stays running when you open the door to get in. It seems like Toyota is the only, or one of the only, vehicles that shut off when you open the door. Kinda dumb IMO

I tried the 12 Volt Solutions remote start. Don't know if it was me or the module, but the truck would start and immediately turn off. I think the truck thought it was being stolen because the little key lock on the center console would illuminate after trying the remote start. Had to return it.

I've had the Accessorides remote start with the OEM fob now for 3 months and have had no issues. The install took about an hour. The hardest part was taking apart the dash but there are a couple of youtube videos for other companies that show how to do it.
The car will keep running when you open the door. It shuts off if you hit the brake pedal before inserting the key.

Thanks for the info. Wish it was like in my F150, it would not shut down when the doors were open.

I used this one. The ports were you "plug" into are the same except this one involves some splicing of wires so just ignore that part at the end.

If you google (4runner remote start) and look under videos there are a couple of them.

Installed mine a couple weeks ago, its 100% plug and play, and YES, the vehicle stays running when you unlock and open the door.
Just put your key in and turn to ON (not far enough to make it crank, obviously) then you are ready to drive off.
Love that it can use the stock factory keyfob/key. make sure you dont press lock 3 times too fast, it wont recognize them, do about one a second.

I think 895s pair with 885s and I think 887s are pretty close to that.

Lifted my wife’s 2018 limited 4Runner. 3” Rev Tech spacer lift, 275 85 R17 BFG KO2 tires, XD rims. Crappy picture. I’ll take a better one soon. I know a lot of people on this forum have asked about lifting the limited model. It looks so much better without the 20” rims. Looks less like a soccer mom ride now. It still rides great, but the nose dive is still there. Here’s before and after photos.

Guys, this has been gone over 1000 times. If you have push start the truck WILL shut off when the door is opened. If you have regular key, the truck WILL NOT shut off when the door is opened. Doesn't matter what brand system you use, this is just how it works. BTW you guys paying $400 for a plug and play system off the OEM remote are getting ripped off. You can get a MUCH higher end system with an alarm and significantly better range for that money. I've been in this industry for 20 years, these systems are way over priced and all you're paying for is convenience. It's like a $6 soda off the roach coach.

And where do u get one such thing. And what if the truck already has alarm. All the prices I've seen are 300 to 400. But maybe WE aren't savy enough to know where to look? But some people over pay for other things that others can get cheaper but nobody says where to get such items. But we will tell others they pay to much but not help everyone save.

Your OEM alarm is not an alarm, don't let that fool you. Truth is, alarms on newer cars are just noise but that noise can sometimes be all that's needed. Back in the day, alarms did more than they do today because older cars were much easier to steal. With the chips in the keys on today's cars, it's not as easy as a screwdriver in the ignition switch hit with a hemmer a couple times to get the car started. As for looking for the best deal possible, local shops to you with a good reputation. For about $400 - $500, you can get a Viper alarm and remote start including the needed bypass module and installation. With that said, the parts alone can be sourced online for about $125-$150 if you can do the install yourself. There is nothing wrong with tapping into your wiring as long as you do it correctly. Yes, a t harness is much easier but not required and that's part of the convenience I'm speaking of. Cut each wire in half, make a nice clean connection, solder, shrink tube, wrap on loom once all your connections are made, good to go for a lifetime. I get this is not for everyone but there are absolutely other options out there. The system I have is a full alarm remote start with paging system and I'm into it for a total of $150.00

That's not an alarm issue, that's an install issue. Shock sensor was set too sensitive. Super simple thing to resolve.

Changed out the black roof rack for silver/grey, it matches better with the graphite wheels and the rest of my silver/grey trim. Also put on the Borla exhaust to compliment the TRD performance intake. Not as a significant a feel in throttle response as when I did the same to my Tacoma. But it looks and sounds cool. We will see if there is any improvement in MPG. 0BAF3305-A436-4685-AD1A-3EC0C55C3AFC.jpg

I made a perch that allowed me to move the axle from on top of the leafs to under the leafs. I welded that onto the axle. This gave me about 5" of lift. Then a just used a set of hub adapters so I could mount the wheels. I've had these wheels since 2004, and figured that I would put them to use. Eventually I want another set of TRDP wheels, so these can double as spares if needed. Right now they are not compatible. Thanks!

That’s going to be nice! Not sure if this site has an “Other Builds” forum like TW but either way you should make a build thread for this

It'll look even better once some TRD wheels are on it. Maybe paint the trailer Inferno to match your truck?
