Is that reverse light bright to the point it's gonna piss people off around town? I don't need insane brightness back there for reverse. But a mild upgrade would be nice.

 

Love the concept. Worried it's $139 that's gonna get crunched by someone at the grocery store.

 

They did the “mild” tune, they felt it would be best for me.

 

I have it too. Nah it's like a projector in reverse mode aimed at the ground. Unless you're driving the bus and reversing over someone , they wont know.

 

Got a little buddy for the 4Runner.
2024 GR Corolla Circuit edition with only 2000km on it. One vehicle has a dead reliable under stressed V6, the other a high strung 3 cylinder 1.6L turbo making 300HP, 273ft/lb torque. What could go wrong?

Did my first “mod” today, lol. Swapped the teton shifter from my old tundra to the 4runner.

 

I don't think so. I had their tail as turn before and that was WAAAAY brighter. But even then, not annoying bright. Functional bright

 

Try the Tail as Turn module by diode dynamics. I loved mine after changing out to LED bulbs. Helped make my reverse camera actually useful. I never would have gotten rid of them except I got a great deal on tail lights from a friend

Nah. Aluminum light housing should be fine. Also if someone is that close then you're getting something hit besides the light.

 

Oil change with Kirkland 0-20. Lately I’ve been having trouble with the plastic wind deflector bolts snapping and skid plate bolts stripping. I think it’s normal because I read where people complain that the dealership has done the same thing, but they weren’t replaced by the dealership. I purchased extra bolts from my dealership to solve this issue. Strangely, I went years without replacing any bolts, but recently it’s been an adventure.

You won't be disappointed. Its a great roof rack. Just remember to add thread lock to the bolts. They loosen up on rough roads.

Last weekend I removed the red letters from the TRD skid plate, opting to replace them with charcoal gray letters.


After removing the original letters.



With the new vinyl applied.

Note: ya gotta fill those OE holes before applying the vinyl. I used Gorilla Glue 2-part clear epoxy, letting it cure overnight.
Fill it full, sand it level, clean it well, and get to applying vinyl!

This vinyl is a charcoal metallic, from TVD Vinyl Decals. They offer about 35 different colors.

As a note: pay attention to the skid plate part number listed on their web site — it’s different from the later 5th gen, apparently (letters are much larger). Contact them directly, though, for the letters sized for PTR60-89190. Their customer service is way good!

 

I let the dealership do the first few "free" oil changes. They definitely over-tighten the bolts and stripped a couple of them. Living in the rust belt doesn't help either. I replaced all of the skid plate bolts, and always apply a small amount of anti-seize to them every time I change the oil. It's been trouble-free since.

 

What about just popping out the factory letters and spray painting them any color you want ?

 

Not all the skids have the removable lettering, i think they started in 2020? My 2018 doesn't. 3D stick on for me, don't recall the company.
