2016 4 runner 210,000 no previous issues. Was driving home today, 4LO started flashing, temperature gauge went to “C”, and traction control light came on. I shut the vehicle off, tried to restart. It turns over just fine, but it won’t start. The security light flashes on as well. I unhooked the battery for awhile, and still nothing. Had a friend come hook it up to the computer and the error message was ECM lost connection or something like that. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

It won't start because the immobilizer light is on - security light flashes because the key is no longer recognized. Hope you have a spare key - try that first and see what you get.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Neutral safety switch? 4LO flashing is apparently one of the signs. I can’t speak to the other symptoms you had though.

Change your key battery first. Lithium button cell 2032. Then the fuel pump relay.

There is a bitter coating on a lot of the coil cell batteries so children shouldn’t swallow them. Where the coating is applied may interfere with the contacts of the fob.

You have a aftermarket remote stat system? Remove it when battery negative is disconnected.

That's going to be a real problem. One way or another, you're going to need a key that works to satisfy the immobilizer system that will activate the truck to run.
