    Oooh look, another mod.....

Agreed. A lot of people on this site can be pretty fanatical about their 4Runner and the maintenance. I picture them like the guys from Full Metal Jacket.

This is my 4Runner, there are many like it, but this one is mine!
My 4Runner is my best friend.
    It is my life.
With me, my 4Runner is useless.
Without my 4Runner I am useless.
I must wheel harder than the Jeep owner who is trying to wheel harder than me.

    Peace, and Amen!

I am the OP, I actually said, I dont care if you change it or not.....You do you is my exact quote. Never called anyone cheap. I said the PART is cheap and its a 5 minute job.

    As to your other questions

Brake pads - I inspect yearly
    Rotate Tires - 7k miles
    Brake Fluid - 30k miles
    Trans Fluid - 60k miles
    Differential Fluid - 15k
    Transfer Case - 15k
    Serpentine Belt - 80k
    Power Steering Fluid - 30k
    Transfer Case - 15k
Spark Plugs - 80k (thats early i know, just wanted to see how they looked)
    Air Filter & Cabin Filter - 12k
Clean MAF and throttle body - 12k
    Coolant - 50k
    Oil Change - 5k miles
    Drive Shaft lube - 15k
    PCV Valve - 80k
Alignment - Every 6 months (its really just to have them move the camber/caster bolts so they dont seize. The alignment is fine, just want them to move the bolts - the shop doesnt charge me)

I also log everything and have every receipt. Thats just so when i sell it I can show the maintenance history.

Good you dodged the PVC valve bullet. Now be sure to rust proof your rear license plate mounting holes. I do this periodically with whatever's on hand (Krown spray, silver anti-seize, etc.).

yeah you're right, its my baby. My neighbor had a 2011 and when it hit 500k miles he sold it and still got $4,000. My goal is 500k miles. It is my first toyota and I actually have never had a better car/truck - absolutely love it and when we do Moab, Colorado, Utah and AZ off roading annually, I need it to be maintained. We did the Toyota Jamboree the past two years and I never knew off roading could be this much fun. Just ordered a roof top tent last night for this years trip out west in September.

The PCV valve part of the video is like the last 5 minutes of the video. This guy "Viking" is actually a 4Runner owner and a Toyota Master Mechanic

You're over-servicing the MAF and throttle body and potentially doing more harm than good. There's a saying in aviation - 50% of maintenance is caused by maintenance.

Shift some of your energy toward other areas with demonstrated failures:
    • Spray teflon lube in the door and tailgate key holes.
    • Spray lithium grease on the door hinges and most importantly, the fuel door hinge.
Once a year is more than enough for the above.

Funny you mention this. I just changed out the Bank 2 cam timing solenoid so I had the air filter assembly off. Gave the throttle body a light wipe with a clean cloth. That's all the service the throttle body has had (or needed) in 16 years. With the engine idling in drive, you can't feel it running while holding the steering wheel.

Hey, thank you for that. I wasnt aware that you could over service the MAF but it does make sense. I do the two items you recommended above but never got the fuel door hinge (thank you). I also "lube" the rubber door molding to prevent them from dry rotting - ive done that once in the past 2 years. Some may think im OCD about maintenance but I only do this because the wife and I travel 5 months out of the year to Utah, Colorado, AZ and then we head over to Florida. During those 5 months, 4 of the months are off roading, camping and just being in very remote areas. When i say remote areas, Im talking about its so remote that we carry an emergency satellite "beacon" just in case the shit hits the fan. There is absolutely no cell phone signal at all. I also have very limited tools I bring, and it would be very difficult to even work on it. When we get back home in February I do 1-2 maintenance items a month just in preparation for the next trip.
