I’ll check it out at some point. FWIW, I’d put more stock in the factory service manual than a YouTube video.

I can’t see much use for thread locker on a PCV valve. Thread sealant, perhaps… something like Loctite 592. I sure as hell would not be using high strength thread locker unless the manual specifically calls it out.

Yeah I wonder how many people watched that video and applied a nice amount of red. Now it will take a lot of heat to get it out. I didn’t use anything.

I looked at the video. According the the FSM, Toyota calls for Threebond 1324, which is a medium strength thread lock. This would be commonly referred to as “Loctite Blue”…. Loctite 242 is one such product that is a blue fluid that comes in a red bottle. In the video, he is using a Permatex product that is red in color, but I couldn’t determine what he was actually using.

Colloquial terms for thread lock can be a little confusing because “Loctite” is a brand trademark name commonly used to refer to a number of different products… the color reference in not universal to the fluid or container color.

Jokes aside, it's threading into aluminum. Use Teflon tape or antiseize.

    I used Permatex 59214 on mine. $6.99 at O'Reilly.
Maybe not needed but, it's on there.

I would use antisense or silver goop on mine when changing, but that’s me.

I wonder if he puts that on his spark plugs too!

You called? What do you want me to say? Something along the lines of why are you guys telling the OP to replace parts without evening knowing what’s leaking.

Lol right!? He says to change at 100k miles and more frequently after that, but then slaps on what appears to be a high strength thread lock. If I use silver antiseize on the valve, 100% watch me make a mess lol I think I won’t use the orange locker anymore thanks for the wisdom @3JOH22A
