Anyone drinking tonight... or, today??

Helles Lager from local brewer Humble Sea in Santa Cruz CA. Very nice summer brew.

 

Had a couple of Coors Lights, does that count?

 

Of course, I think they’re tasty, when the times right.

 

Had enjoyed this hangin with the wife when I got home from work last night. Then two Budweisers.

 

This is an excellent beer. Their Penelope Pils and Wave Czech (Czech Pils) are even better, IMO.

I'm a big fan of craft lagers. Not so much the lagers many of the big breweries put out.

 

I typically just drink IPAs (lately drinking ones from Foam Brewers out of VT) but 6 months ago my son introduced me to Manhattans. After some trial and error I ended up with Bulleit Bourbon or Rye (I alternate), Antica Formula Vermouth, Angostura bitters and Luxardo cherries. I've tried more expensive Bourbons but feel the Bulleit works just fine and is reasonably priced. I started with cheap vermouth (Martini Rossi) but feel the Antica really elevates the drink. what really made a huge difference was the cherries. I started with the cheap grocery store cherries but my son told me I had to use the Luxardo despite the cost. And he was so right. One cherry and a half teaspoon of the syrup just makes it perfect.

For special occasion whiskey sipping my son bought me a bottle of George T Stagg for my 65th birthday. wow its something!

 

Those cherries really are the best......by far!

I muddle a couple of them and use some of the cherry syrup in my whiskey sours.

Had a Piña Colada and now having a Paloma while I wait for the coals. Gonna grill a NY strip and I have mushrooms and onions on the stove.

Ya know, I wish I had a better palate for whiskey. It’s very good, but if I hadn’t gotten this as a gift I would have never bought it myself. I’m fine with Buffalo Trace.

Had family over for a fish fry yesterday and made a few rounds of old fashioneds. Going to a minor league baseball game for a nephew's birthday party and I'm sure I'll have a few beers.
