    So i bought a used 2021 Toyota 4Runner sr5 and i bought new low beam and fog lights. I open up the hood to swap the low beams and i spot the high beams and off to the sides where i would assume the low beams are theirs like a black casing that covers the side area where i again, assume the low beams would be. Anyone know how to get to the low beams?

    Welcome. The low beam on 2021+ is a sealed LED unit. It is not intended to be serviceable.

    Correct. You cannot replace the "bulb" because there isn't one. The LEDs are part of the housing and not replaceable or user serviceable.

    As for "upgraded" low beam lighting, the OEM low beams are actually very good. If you want more light on the ground, you might want to consider replacing your fog lights with something like a Diode Dynamics SS3 fog beam pods. They come in 3 power levels - Sport, Pro and Max. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

    Thank you very much, been trying to get an answer for that. I really appreciate it, I’ll look into those fog lights. Also for my dog light i noticed it has a heat sink on it so would i have to change the housing? Because i can’t get to the bulb itself

    The factory LED fog lights do not have replaceable bulbs either. If you want better fog lighting, you need to replace the whole unit.

    Speaking as one who has played with improved lighting on all of my vehicles since the 1970's, I can pretty safely say that "brighter bulbs" are rarely what they advertise and rarely a true lighting upgrade. This is especially true with the vast majority of "drop in" LED bulbs available today.

    Want truly improved lighting for your 4Runner? Here's what I have for distance lighting on my 2021 SR5 and the fog beams are just as impressive in their own right:

    This is probably too old and a dead thread, wish I had seen it sooner by a year or two, but just in case the OP is still watching and still has the truck: If you live in a rural area and are diligent about not high-beaming others, I have a huge recommendation: On my current 2021 Venture and also on my previous 2013 Trail Edition I replaced the stock 9005 high beam bulbs with Hella 100w units intended "for offroad use only" since they exceed legal wattage limits. The difference this made to the distance of the high beam coverage cannot be overstated, huge huge improvement. Got the idea long ago from grassroots rally racers in Vermont, did it with every car owned since, and by far most dramatic results came when I put them in the 4runners. In fact when I learned that for some arcane reason the 2021 4runners - and only the 2021 - had the LED lowbeam/halogen high beam combo I deliberately sought out a new '21 to purchase instead of a '22, which has LED for both. My 2013 also had Hella Rallye 1000 competition-spec spotlights mounted on the front and I loved them, but when I got the 2021 I left the lighting array alone because I knew how good this simple bulb swap would be. Obviously the down side is that in theory you could get pulled over for these or even found liable if they were discovered after a crash or something, but honestly you'd have to be so unlucky to have that obscure scenario play out in your life, and I choose not to live in paranoia of such near-impossible situations. Those two 4runner combined have 350,000 miles and have gotten away with it so far. Plus there seem to be more than enough people running light bars at inappropriate times that they pull the attention of the fuzz, plus plus the fact that halogens don't have that pure white dazzle like LEDs makes them less likely to be suspected, in my narrow experience at least. I keep the original-spec bulbs in the car at all times for a rapid swap just in case too, and best believe that in a hypothetical nightime offset/head-on frontal collision my final act on this earth would be to crawl through the wreckage to swap back whatever was left of the bulbs ha ha ha I dont wanna get blamed in somebody's obituary. Just kidding. Cannot say enough about how awesome the upgrade makes the high beams, the lens is perfectly shaped and sized to throw that light waaay out beyond the LED low beams to illuminate that deer or moose or yeti in the distance, which in a tipsy tall vehicle at higher speed on narrow remote woodland roads is a huge safety feature. Abrupt swerves to avoid hazards are not an option at 60mph unless you have a fetish for vehicular cartwheels, so even if there was a feasible risk of intervention by law enforcement, I'd still swap out the stock bulbs the day I bought the car. Oh and lastly, they uh last forever in my experience, my 2013 4runner had 237,000 miles when I traded it in and still had those same bulbs burning holes in the darkness beyond anything you would ever expect considering the cost and ease of fitment. And on that closing note, allow me to include a link to the Amazon vendor where I got both of mine, and try not to laugh at the price as you double your lighting distance but get change back from a twenty dollar bill. Ok maybe not quite double, but fits the flow of the sentence so I'm sticking to it. Good luck, hopefully this gets read and helps the OP or anyone else - happy overlanding everyone!

    Hmmm...your Amazon linked page says these do not fit a 2021 4Runner...

    @glwood54

    True! And I'm glad you mentioned this cause it could scare people off for sure. I saw that as well and dont remember if it said same thing last time I got them. My assumption is Amazon says that because of the 100watt being non-spec but not certain, just a theory. But they did fit and work beautifully the last time, 9005 size is what is called for in our manuals and other online reference sheets. I just now triple checked my order archive because I would truly hate to mislead people, and the ones in the link are indeed exactly what I have equipped. But listen if you are considering trying them, I just ordered a set of the Hella 100w Optilux version which purports to be the same thing but with a whiter white, am curious how they compare. They do cost a bit more, a little over thirty bucks, still small change vs other mods. Anyway delivery is set for tomorrow and I will install them as soon as they arrive, they also have the "No Fit 2021" warning on Amazon, so maybe hold off if you were gonna order them and I will confirm here as soon as I plug em in, that way you have the most up-to-date confirmation possible. Let me be the guinea pig. I figure if the 100w Optilux version works even with that "No Fit" warning then same should apply for the standard um whiteness. Gonna hopefully be disproving the Amazon warning here, and I am highly confident it will work just like the others. If not this will have been a very public display of eating crow ha ha ha but at least there is some comedic value in that. But I totally get the concern, hopefully the result tomorrow will give further reassurance to anyone thinking about trying them out!

    Here is a shot of my Amazon previous orders screen to kinda help reassure, yeesh you'd think I was on commission the way I'm repping these bulbs, but no connection to Hella whatsoever, just eager to see others get the benefits that I stumbled upon years ago. Also, I am definitely not saying halogen are better than LED, just in case this thread starts going into a this vs that direction, which would be lame. LEDS are superior in any stock-vs-stock comparison, the advantage here is the ability to sub in the higher wattage version with the halogens, in which case they throw light further because they're no longer neutered by govt regulations. Safe travels all, will report results tomorrow.

    Will be interested in the review. I did the H11 to H9 low beam conversion early on, along with swapping in Diode Dynamics Sport fog lights, but never messed with the high beams since I don't really use them all that much...
