    Hey all,

I just finished rotating my tires on the 5th Gen TRD Pro. It came with those locking lugnuts, one on each wheel. And there's a key that is required to screw/unscrew that lugnut.

Anywho, I used the wrench that comes with the vehicle to undo all of the luguts, both regular and the locking nut. No problem. Then, when it came time to screw on and tighten to torque specs all of the lugnuts, it required a 13/16" socket for the regular lugnuts and a 7/8" socket for the locking lugnuts. How does that make sense?

The only thing I can think of is that there is a taper on the vehicle's wrench that allows it to fit both sizes. Or maybe it's metric and the SAE sizes I was using weren't quite right and it would have required only one socket size had I used the correct metric socket.

Bonus questions: Does it make sense to keep a torque wrench, correct socket sizes and socket extension in the vehicle at all times, or is that overkill? Second bonus question, when I bought this brand new, there were blue and yellow paint markings on the lugnuts and other bolt heads, etc. under the car. What's that all about?

    Thanks!

^The Pro parts are installed in a mod bay at port after the vehicle got off the boat from Japan. The paint pen marks are just QA, so the technician keeps track that all lug nuts are torqued.

The stock lugnuts are nominally 21mm. I noticed my 13/16" socket fits too tight and 22mm is too loose. Try a 21mm socket on the wheel lock key?

You can get a cheap extendable lug wrench with flip socket to accommodate two different lug sizes. It can function as a breaker bar too for normal maintenance. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...utograde-14-inch-lug-wrench-drive/dag0/711900

    21mm all day.

I keep a cheapo rachet and socket in the vehicle all the time. I hate dealing with the crappy tools.

I don't keep a torque wrench. Just tighten (probably over tighten) til I would get home then torque.

Thank you! Would terpentine be a good idea to remove that or would it possibly mess up the black color of the lugnuts as well?
