I am on a mission to replace the foam in my seats with brand new inserts. There are multiple options, both OEM & aftermarket, to replace the bottom seat cushion (the one that you sit on).
However, my search for backrest foam (the one your back rests against) has come up empty. It seems there are no aftermarket sellers, and the OEM foam is discontinued.

I've brainstormed some ideas below on how it may be able to be replaced. Can anyone comment from experience if any are realistic?

    - Obscure eBay seller (maybe in Japan) that has the OEM foam in stock
    - Local/national upholstery shop that can create a replica of the original
    - Foam from a similar generation Toyota/Lexus (or other make) vehicle that can be swapped in
    - Seller (dealership / small company) that has the foam in stock that I missed

I'm open to any and all ideas. What I'm not interested in doing is using foam out of a junkyard vehicle or swapping in non-oem seats.

**I'm willing to pay a premium if someone on this forum has new, un-used OEM backrest foam**

An upholstery resto shop will recut foam to fit. They may keep the old foam if it is still in good shape but bolster parts that have collapsed over time.

Otherwise take your chances with the japanese ebay seller. I've done things both ways. Usually I don't have an issue since whose trying to scam people on seat foam?

Maybe? Sometimes a really low mileage car will come in but usually for wear items anything in junkyards will have the same issues.

He's open to any and all ideas. It's an idea worth checking out if there's a local yard where he can inspect it himself. I wouldn't buy it if I couldn't see it and feel it.
