Installed a new battery. EverStart Maxx from Walmart.
6/25 initial charge date, resting voltage 12.6, 750 CCA, 3 years warranty and under $150.
If this can last me around 4 years I will be happy as I normally change my battery evey 4 years irrespective of the holding charge.
I do need a battery tray. Does the new 4runner come with a battery tray?

Changed rear differential fluid. 38,000 miles. Cleaned off the magnetic sludge from the drain plug. Seemed like quite a bit of it but I've never done this procedure before so :notsure: Will change the front at some point soon.

I’m sure you have but do some research/preventive ordering possibly…

    https://www.4runners.com/threads/differential-drain-plug-wont-budge.31727/page-3#post-727137

Only cause some have had issues, including myself, but might want to change the front diff plugs to Lexus/comparable version
(Actual bolt head VS hex insert) for future

    https://youtu.be/CkzMMu7-QH8?si=nufN_CViIK4Djk9w

The>$5 socket he mentions in his video link actually was able to get my front drain plug out after it kinda started to strip, n I already had #10 hex…micro millimeters I guess?…

just food for thought to have these on hand before you start

It’s a detailed write up, but if done to spec, you should be able to do this mod without any issues.

I whole heartily agree! so far only 1 oil change on this TRD Pro, coming up on the 10k & that's when I'm doing the Mod. Probably order hardware on-line.:notsure:

If order online from the companies in the write up, they will work flawlessly. Bolts used are grade 8.

Had some time to kill in the garage today. I don't have metal working skills or tools, so I used a scrap 1x4 to do with wood what others have done with metal. Thought it might be a handy thing to keep back in the jack compartment.

    Hey, Saker:
I’m sure I’m overthinking this, but it looks to me like the hardware kit for your skid plate mod is made of:
    • Four M10x1.25x70 bolts
    • Four M10x1.25 jam nuts
    • Two M10 flat washers
    • Four M10 Belleville washers
    • Four M10 acorn nuts
    • Two M10 retaining washers
    Am I tracking properly?

As for strength, Saker mentioned “Medium strength,” which would be the 8.8 mark on the bolt heads.

The retaining washers come on the long front bolts with the spacers, so you will reuse those 2. instead of the Belleville washers you can use lock washers between the skid and the acorn nuts.

Looking at BelMetric, I just don’t see an M10x1.25x70 with a spacer and a retaining washer. Point us toward it, please?

Or are you saying those are already in place with the TRD skid (which I don’t yet have)?

The skid will come with aluminum spacers, bolts and the retainers shown in my mod posting. One will reuse the spacers and the retaining washers and not use the stock bolts when doing this mod.

PB Blasted the neutral safety switch and added lubrication to the linkages on the opposite side. Keeps the shifter nice and smooth specially on higher mileage vehicles. Time to grease the spider joints and slip yoke next.
