Weird headliner issue

So my gf got in her 4 runner this morning and saw this and a few more small spots. She said theyre not wet or anything. It has been raining like hell the past few days. So I’m wondering if water is getting I through her off market roof rack. Pretty sure she’s gonna have to take it to an upholstery shop to get fixed.

any ideas?

 

The most likely scenario: Someone was riding in the backseat and they touched the ceiling with their dirty and/or greasy hands and caused it to be stained or smudged.

You can steam clean that out.

 

you can steam clean the indentions out? That’s what she woke up to was that weird snapped indention in the headliner. She said it wasn’t there last night. Super odd.

 

Oh, no… I meant the stains. You can clean the stains out. The indents aren’t worth the trouble to fix. You’d have to replace the entire head liner and the foam padding.

 

It appears that her heels were pressed against the room for some reason or another. Perhaps she took up car yoga...

Longer trip home from grocery store than normal ?
Those indentions were from someone pressing against the headliner... My ex GF has some nearly identical in the back of her Maxima..... We put there on accident.... Luckily its only us that noticed and not her mom and dad. (this was like 2005ish)
Also, look for stains on the seats....
Man i hope you are not finding out the hard way that she was out having a good time without you.

Something hit the ceiling from the inside.

 

The longer one that shows cracks along it would indicate a foot was pushing upward against it.

 

think of a footprint in the snow or like a foam shoe insole. This imprint would appear that it was pushed deep and has tried to bounce back.

Did she recently load something big/ungainly that hit the ceiling? I did damage like this getting a wheelbarrow loaded into the back. Unfortunately it does not buff out.

I don't want to make assumptions here... But the more I look at this picture the more I see foot prints.



Here's an idea. Seduce her in the back seat. Observe the position she chooses.
Just like Cinderella, if the shoe fits, she belongs to the streets. Pretty sure that's how that story went.

We could all just be incredibly insecure and imaginative people who spend too much time on the internet. Come to think of it... this option is pretty likely.

 

Yeah, I agree with the rest of you mutts, it's definitely a shoe. Maybe there's an "innocent" explanation. Why hasn't hit by a short bus posted a reply? Where does he live? Should we be concerned? I have lots of questions.

Same. Think I had a small table or chairs in the back and I hit the headliner when getting them out. Not nearly as spicy a story that we might have brewing here.

 

Are there raptor lights? Raptor lights could cause that damage.

OP - sorry to say, but not sure how you would get the indentations out, perhaps consult with an upholstery shop, if anyone would know, they would. And yes, if there are stains, those can be cleaned gently with a microfiber and some sort of carpet / interior cleaner.

 

Where did OP go? Perhaps he matched up her shoe prints to the indents on the roof liner?

 

Before i made my second post in this thread yesterday, i wondered if we were getting trolled, so i checked TinEye to see if these pix were stolen off reddit or some green thumb page where someone stuffed lumber in their vehicle. TinEye had -zero- matches, which means these pix hadnt been posted anywhere else on the internet. This further led me to believe OP's 4R (and ole'lady) did get stuffed with wood, but not the hardware store kind.

 

He posted his thread and hasn’t been seen online since my 2nd post/response to him. There’s a good chance he hasn’t seen us roasting him, yet. He probably got the answer he needed and vanished.
