Considering this 4runner (Charlotte, NC). Does it have a lift? Is owner here?

    Appreciate your help in advance.
    4Runner in question:
    https://www.scottclarkstoyota.com/u...ad+Premium+4D+Sport+Utility-JTERU5JR2R6247919

Does it look like it has a lift?
Service records on Toyota website show the selling dealer, at 140 miles, installed the OME 3inch lift with upper control arms but the sales guy says there is no lift on it. Previous owner bought it at the same dealer.
Should I stay away from it if it does have a lift?
Would the dealer deny any warranty claims due to the lift if they come up being that they installed it?
Is the owner here by any chance?

Definitely lifted, can't really gauge the height since I'm unsure of tire size. Assuming those are 33s I'd put that a a 2.5"-3" lift. If service records say it's got an OME 3" on it then I'd believe that.

$55k is $7k more than it cost new, BTW...

I doubt you'd have any warranty issues due to the lift, but who knows really. Dealers do dealer shit. I personally love to mod my vehicles but I don't trust that anyone else does it "right", so if I was buying I'd look for a totally stock one and do the mods I wanted, but YMMV. I could also do without the giant "4Runner" down the side...

That is a fair bit higher than a new one cost last year.
Personal opinion, if you wanna buy one already done, there you go but i would still try to knock the wind out of them and low ball them at least another -$4,000 off that $55k asking price.
Also, personal opinion, you can get a bone stock one around $40,000 and do your own stuff to it and make it look identical to that one and only have about $44,000 tied up so you are at a net savings of $10,000 over what you see on that link.

Here is a link, hope it works, looks like 453 4runners listed at dealers within 200 miles of you that are 2020-2024
This is all colors and options, you can look on the left side and choose some options to leave off if you like. You can choose a specific color if you like. That will narrow things down. The 2020+ all have the newer updated interior with big screen which i think is a plus.

Looks okay. I had around 4.5" until everything settled and have about 4" on my Limited now. I have OME 2883S front/4" and Freedom offroad 2" lift rear. It rides and drives so good now. I worked for Toyota and the salesman will upgrade to add more profit. That's why you are paying more and very few on the lot now and with price of new ones, probably increased value. Used 4runners disappeared here. People looking for used 4runners on radio trade time. They aren't for everyone. It's a 4wd truck and doesn't drive like an SUV without a frame. Mine is the MeterReader Edition. Remember, a car salesman is a liar and he probably doesn't know what's been done. You could find one cheaper and do all the upgrades cheaper yourself. I replaced my Xreas with $500 Bilsteins, ARB springs, Freedom offroad UCAs for about $1100 in parts myself for an idea of mark up. Anything with TRD on it requires premium money. The full size Land Cruiser is a GR now like a Supra. Next big marketing idea. Don't be anxious. I doubt they would deny warranty, but it's probably certified which adds $2k to price usually for nothing. I buy my 4runners with 100k+ because I, like the dealership, knows there won't be any issues. Alabama has best 4runner prices when I was shopping. I will travel to save a thousand or more. That's high springs, UCAs and if no new struts.

Scott clark toyota should know a modified vehicle doesnt necessarily raise the value of the vehicle. They sure as shit probably wouldnt give you extra money for your mods if you were trading one in.

I was just at a stealership earlier today, looked at three 5th gens they had on the lot...

The OP's ad under the "All Features - Specs" tab indicates stock suspension, wheels and tires (265/70 R17) but compared to my TRD Pro that now has a 2" lift it appears quite similar in height / wheel well clearance.

They may have given extra on trade, but customer paid for mods dealer did. Salesman is trying to make up for missed meal cramps with the pricing.

I just looked at the mileage and it's brand new still. I would negotiate and be, well I don't know. I didn’t really want a modified 4runner and keep working him. He knows he will sell it, but how hungry is he too discount some more to sell now. I'm sure it's cheaper than a 2025. Save money and get one a little older with more miles on it with good history. Mileage means nothing on a 4runner. If it's not done in 36k, it probably won't. Less technology means less problems to. I wouldn't pay that much for anything to drive unless I'm keeping it. That's the real value and no payments to drive for decades.

I have always had Limiteds, but I started to get an SR5 or Trail for the very reason you state. I researched, but a lot has changed in 15 years. I don't like 3rd row. Should stay Lexus only. Ruined storage and sleeping. I didn’t know about rear seats not folding and AWD. Platform sharing is ruining the individuality. To many different models for to many different people sharing one platform. I do love the AWD in weather. You don't have to get stuck before you realize you should have already been in 4wd. That's usually to late. They go good like they are. I'm sure crawl and everything is neat, but you don't need it. L4L in first gear and your going to be crawling. The options help resale on TRD but for the money how much will you really use it? Check out an ORP. Better value for future mods. They all do the same thing differently and have the same bolt holes. Plastic on the Limited is lower from trying to make a car out of and limits egress and ingress on some angles. I think I would buy stock, drive it, learn what you want to change so you know how any mods make behave. I wrecked two 3rd gen with 300k+ on them and very clean. Insurance paid me more than I paid.

Why would someone spend money on mods and then sell it right away? Something went wrong and it got dumped.

I am thinking is what most likely happened.

I did more digging in the service history and the last oil change the dealer used "customer provided oil" and then 200 miles later it was sold.

Thank you all for great feedback!
I will pass on this one.

To be fair, I don't know that that is accurate. I have done thousands of dollars of service work and upgrades to a vehicle only to get a wild hair up my ass and trade it in a month later. All that money and time, lost. But I wanted what I wanted and I wrote it off as the cost of doing business. Maybe this guy set up the 4R the way he wanted and then 8 months and 6,000 miles later he just had to have a Bronco Raptor or a Cybertruck or a fucking Fiat 500 and he dumped the 4R to get the next thing.

Indeed. Unfortunately once people move on to a different brand, most of them don't stick around. Nothing much for a guy on this forum if he was only a member for the purposes of bettering his ride.

You can still build that vehicle for a LOT cheaper.
Buy the same identical vehicle and put your own lift on it. That is a 3" up front and likely 1.5" out back from the looks. I didnt read thru everything to see if its shocks and springs or just puck lift. Lotta folks around here do the 3/2 puck lifts because they are cheap. They dont ride all that great but most folks just want to be bigger. You plan to lift one more than 2" you REALLY need new / longer shocks. When you go over 2" you take away from the droop travel and have a higher likleyhood of topping the shocks out in big bumps pot holes or dips. Topping the shocks out is one of the quickest ways to blow the shocks out.

There are a couple of videos on this topic. Pucks keep the suspension from hitting the bump stop and put more pressure on the shock.

Whatever you get, look at the history of where it was sold, service and accidents. I don't want any northern owned unless frame is really clean. If you're buying, have them rack it and look underneath or take a creeper and light.

Drove through this morning and spot checked around and did not see it on the lot (Visual areas)

They do have it where you pretty much have to get out and get a salesperson to get into the back lot or upper levels. Could have been on a test drive or in the shop however..

There is a golden rule with buying trucks. Never buy someone’s project truck. It’s never a fun challenge to buy someone’s frankstein bullshit. Unfortunately it’s a hard pass no matter the mileage

Keep in mind, anything modified means you get no warranty.

Anecdote. I used to have a car that was popular with tuners. There was a service bulletin for premature turbo failure. When I was scheduling the work with the dealership, they had to warn me that tuned cars were ineligible and they would charge diagnostic fee if I showed up with a tuned car. It was so common for them to reject tuned cars that they were warning everyone by default. More so, if you were second owner that purchased it used, you might not even know it was tuned at some point, but you would still be ineligible.
