I just got my truck back after accident repairs. I was hit in the front right of the truck. When I drive into my driveway entrance, I hear a metal on metal clank. I took a look and the spacing between the body and the chassis looks off. Does the spacing in these pics look normal?

    What?

I got rear ended with frame damage. They cut out the rear section of the frame and welded in the new section, replaced the rear hatch, glass and bumper valance then sent on my way after $10k in repairs were completed.

Corolla, noticed the taillight was broken after I brought it home. Not worth going back to that area.

They should have totaled that. Frame damage. Always get more then one estimate.

Ha! Not always the case. My rear section of frame was damaged from the rear end collision I was involved in. They cut out the section and welded in the new section and were able to get it within Toyota specs.

Trust me, I thought frame damage was a automatic total but not the case anymore. These frames can be purchased in sections and one thing I did learn, as long as the welding process doesn’t exceed a given temperature for a specific time it doesn’t change the characteristics of the metal and, the frame are made in sections of differing metal composition and hardness for strength, impact resistance and energy absorption.

At the cost of them seems like a do-able fix.
