What I think is that your timing is excellent. I’m going truck camping in June and was planning this mod before the trip.

Oh, and the writeup is thorough and informative as always.

Great write ups, makes me miss my 4th gen!
I wonder what is different to add the hatch release to a 5th gen with a smart key.

Oh yeah, I like functionality.

 

Tangentially related, have you found a way to add a power door lock switch to the rear? Would be great to have a way to lock and unlock the doors at night without having to use the remote.

Yes, on the inside. Idea is to make it easy to lock and unlock all doors when sleeping inside the rear of the 4Runner.

his came with hatch popper/lock n unlock/ rear window up n down

I haven’t tried this but it looks promising. Looks like it also includes a lock/unlock feature.

so the red button opens hatch
The arrows either way quick push lock:unlock
The arrows hold either way open close rear window(subsequently locking unlocking too)

best thing on the fricking planet

the guy who makes them is great n helpful if you have issues
