I believe I have high idle somewhere between 1500-2500 rpm at start. Sometimes below 2000 rpm’s. What normal? This is at temps between 40-65 so far. It has 5800 miles on a 24. Had oil changed at 5000. Also below 1000 once I engage drive. Tia!

Normal to have a high idle right after a cold start regardless of OAT.

yeah, I didn’t pay attention before to rpms but the last few times just sounded like I was stepping on the gas and nothing was pushing the peddle. I started to pay attention to Rpms. When warm it’s between 1000-1500

that's what it does in open loop, cold startup. Within 30-45 seconds it settles out around 1100 and then 700 or so once in closed loop.

Don’t sweat it. If the engine was doing something outside of its parameters, you’d get a check engine light.

As long as it drops down within a few seconds after warm up, you're fine. If you've been driving and it's still that high at a stop light, then check something.

In my 24 south Florida cold start, idle starts around 1200, gets down to 1100 for 2-3 mins then slowly, slowly gets to 1k and less. I usually drive off after 1-2 mins of idle after a cold start.
It can jump up kinda high initially, but settles at 1200-1100

open vs closed loop. Open meaning dumping fuel into cylinders to get up to temp, closed meaning Ecm talking to all sensors, MAF, o2, Throttle body, etc

Nope. Your rig is completely broken. Not normal at all. In fact, that means the engine is beyond repair.

Also, oil change at 5k... you completely destroyed that engine. Bummer.

EDIT- Im sending info, to purchase your broken rig, cheap of course. Look for a email.

Do you have aftermarket floor coverings over the OEM floor mats?

Yes, anywhere between 1500-2500 for the first few seconds is normal. Mine usually fires up around 1800-2000 with variance as we have temps from 0 to 100+ during the year.
