    Oooh look, another mod.....

    Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CWXNS552?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

You can buy them in packs of 1, 2, 4 or more. I only need one, but the more you buy, the more you save. When researching how & where to hide this the internet gave me some recommendations.

    1) Buy 2 and hide one in an obvious spot and one in a very hard spot. They recommended this because the Air Tag's have speakers inside them and when you're trying to find one, it gives off a "Beep". Thieves can also find them with their iPhones and then toss them before stealing your vehicle.
    2) Buy 1 but disable the speaker. You can do this by taking the Air Tag apart (carefully) and disconnecting the wires. I didn't want to do this because A) I messed up the first time I did it and had to order a new one and B) I want to be able to locate my Air Tag when it's time to change out the battery. The shelf life of the battery is about 1yr.

You can hide the Air Tag in a plethora of easy places like: Glovebox, center console, under the seats, in the center stack cubby area, etc... You could hide it in a very hard spot to find and get to, but you'd have to partially take apart the dash, center console or other areas.

I chose a middle ground: I bought one Air Tag and kept the speaker enabled. First I had it wrapped in a small hand towel (to muffle the sound), then I stuffed that in a big freezer zip lock bag and put duct tape around that bag. Then I hid it in one of my Molle Panel bags.

But I moved it while my 4Runner is in the shop (because I took all my stuff out before dropping it off). It's still in that same zip lock bag, but I poked a hole in that bag and moved it to the cargo area. If you remove the panel on the left (to get to the light or jack), there's an bracket in there. I zipped tied the bag (by running it through that hole) to that bracket so it doesn't move and it's hard to spot/remove.

I know this isn't a fault-less solution for auto theft. Far from it. This just slows down thieves if they want to steal it, or if they do I can easily track it and recover my 4Runner.

Other great uses for Air Tags are:

    1) Putting one in the purse or wallet of an eldery person who wanders off and has dementia.
    2) Putting one on the collar of a pet that is an escape artist!
    3) Putting one on your keychair if you're ALWAYS losing those keys.
    4) Putting one in your luggage while you travel. No more lost bags!

The best part of this is, the Air Tag works by bouncing a signal off another iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or other Apple Product. Since there are a few billion Apple Products floating around, there's a good chance someone will walk by the Air Tag with it, and that Air Tag will update its location.

    None yet.
Preventative maintenance serpentine belt with new old stock dayco, as I heard the first squeaks this past week with all the rain we have had here.

Kept the old one as a back up.

Got my new Taruca USA 180 awning installed today and got to test it out in the wind. We had 20-30 MPH winds today and I deployed the awning in both its freestanding and legs/guy out configuration. The awning seems to be of quality construction and is extremely sturdy. I haven’t noticed any additional noise while driving and everything fits back into the bag easily. IMG_7869.jpg IMG_0020.jpg IMG_0021.jpg IMG_0022.jpg IMG_0023.jpg IMG_0024.jpg

Went in for my appointment with full intentions of paying for a new windshield. The shop came to me and asked if I would rather them try to repair the chip - they said they would try to repair it first and if I wasn’t happy they would continue with the full replacement.

I can still see the damage, but I ended up going with the repair as I’m sure I’ll get another one and then I will shell out the $ to get it replaced.

I too have airtags in all my trucks. I do not put multiples in my trucks. The trend for stealing cars here in Denver is that they steal them and park them in a spot for about a week. If the trucks still there after a week, they take it for joy riding, drug deals and or sit on it for use in other crimes. Since the DPD & APD dont do anything about stolen cars, its best to just go find it and steal it back...

Spark plug replacement, a quick engine detail and greasing of the drive shafts yesterday. I'm not sure why I procrastinated on the spark plugs for so long. It wasn't a bad job at all.

Whilst doing the spark plugs I noticed I should probably clean the throttle body, so that'll be today's job.

you’ll see it. It doesnt completely disappear, its more so to prevent the cracks feom spreading.
