@Titan, based on the hissing from the dipstick, I don’t think it’s your oil pump. I would do a compression check to find where the hissing is coming from. I agree with previous post about the bearings being suspect of oil pressure light.
If compression checks good, I would next check for oil pressure indication problem. If compression is bad, no need to waste any more time or money before pulling the engine.

It is a Toyota dealership here in Texas.

I plan to swap out a heavier oil weight this weekend and see if it helps. When i have the oil filter off, i plan to double check that the inner part didn't get destroyed.

As a general update, we reached out to the warranty company yesterday and they said "our records doesn't show the dealership has activated the warranty yet on their side. So we can't be of service until they get their side done." So we reached back out to the sales & finance manager yesterday and we are supposed to get a response today. I did not bring them fully up to speed on everything yet as i want to see if there is any mileage or hold out period before any warranties are can be claimed with the extended warranty option.

The extended warranty is something that the toyota dealership offers with securenet essentials. Which is i guess apart of GSFS inc? The warranty is noted to be the "ultimate" which is supposed to have full coverage options for labor as well as parts, the ultra which was one step down said its partial coverage.

I'm took some videos yesterday. i'm working on getting them uploaded now to share. Give me a few :)

As a certified technician adding thicker oil may help the pressure for now but you still have a major issue and Someone needs to help you out! Someone traded it in for that reason I can assure you.

IDK...unless your state has some kind of cooling-off period law (Im in Michigan and we don't - its caveat emptor 100%) but it looks to be a really nice Runner, sans the engine problems. Heck, I think I'd do exactly what the OP said, drive it til she puts a window through the block, then call the warranty company. If the warranty company doesn't cover an engine, what is a good low-mile used 4Runner engine on car-part.com? $800?

    All is not lost....

I'm guessing someone screwed up and ran it without oil; then, after realizing what happened, they traded it in.

Why are you not bringing this back to the dealer ASAP? Stop wasting time and bring it to them and tell them to fix it. It sounds like they knowingly sold you a POS. Put up a fuss until they fix it on their dime.

Might be interesting to look up the mileage on the last oil service on carfax, then compare to the mileage when they put it up for sale.

This make ZERO sense what you are doing, so now I am doubting a lot of your "story".

But I have a question and i really would like to know.
Why are you adding heavier oil while having a known issue BEFORE taking it back to the dealership?

If you do have to make a claim, they might deny it because you added heavier oil.
