Skid Plate Spacers?

I pulled the OEM skid plate from 2019 limited to change oil and these were laying loose on plate Any idea what they are? I assume they are spacers that previous oil changer forgot to reinstall?

 

They look like the spacers used in conjunction with a diff drop to accommodate the two rear bolts on the skid plate.

I don't believe a stock Limited skid uses any spacers, so without more details about this 4R, there's more to the story.

 

Yeah there are no spacers on a stock Limited. However, when I did my suspension overhaul, it came with a diff drop and two identical spacers for the skid plate. I didn't install it. That's why I went in that direction. But you're correct, we need more information.

 

Can anyone recommend spacer thickness? In the same boat and need to put OEM plate back on after diff drop.

Good question! It was 20 bucks and the shop put it on. At the time I had a TRD skid. Wasn’t until I went to a stock OEM skid that I had an issue.

 

You'll find most on here will say the diff drop is of no use at all. Plenty of lift kits include them, but more often than not, they're just not needed. What's the issue with the stock skid?

 

I had those on my OEM TRD skid plate. They go in the front and the bolt goes through them. There should have been two plastic washers to hold them onto the bolt. Not required you have them but makes life easier. If you look where the front bolts go they feed up into the frame through a round hole. Those spacers go in that hole. The previous owner didn’t forget to reinstall them. They probably didn’t have the plastic clips so when you pulled the bolts out they just moved and when you dropped the plate they fell with it. Look at the mounting point where the front bolts go. It will then make sense where they belong

I learned the hard way that I need to remove my skid kit myself and coat the threads of the hardware when I lost these exact diff drop skid spacers due to bolts completely loosening on fsr’s!

I went down the rabbit hole looking for quick inexpensive replacement spacers. I replaced with metal spacers from Canada’s Princess Auto.

I actually wanna ditch the diff drop kit if possible. I should have declined that one at the shop

 

It's really easy to remove provided you still have the original bolts, washers and nuts.

 

I do not. What’s funny (and embarrassing) is that it wasn’t until recently that I finally grew a brain and realized I never asked for my original suspension parts back from the lift shop.. or things like original hardware before diff drop.
Every little sale adds up on Facebook Marketplace. I got my factory off-road wheels and duelers back from shop and they sold like hotcakes lol

 

Oddly enough, I think I have a set of OEM diff bolts somewhere. If you decide to do it, maybe I can dig them up and get the size for you.
