Anyone with the Sherpa Crestone and approx. 200+lbs of weight get squeaking with this rack? I keep tightening things further and all the washers are basically flat and the front can be lifted but it takes a bit of force. Is there anything that can be done about it? I love the rack in every respect except the squeaking over washboard roads.

I have one. I’ve had 200+ pounds and zero noises. By chance did you do the step of folding a towel under the front wind flange then tighten everything.

I did, but I probably didn’t put enough upward pressure on it. I’ll re-adjust, just didn’t know how much downward pressure it should have on that rubber.

Also. Have you ruled out that it’s not what you’re carrying?

I had to pull up quite hard on those rails at the front and push down hard on the adjustable front feet while snugging them up then tighten down the rear blocks to get tight fit.

I have, it is 100% the rubber squeaking from the Sherpa rack. I’m just struggling with what makes it secure per instructions vs reality. My RTT is the 4x4 Colorado Alto mini so it’s 230lbs. The tent is secured with the Sherpa mounts that raise it off the rails. Small vibrations are fine, it only happens over potholes and washboard roads or similar, but it is very annoying

ok, so just manhandle it more to put more pressure down. I’ll do that and see if it fixes it.

Yeah give it another shot, it's probably lateral play in the front, adjustable pads. It's all about getting the adjustable pads extended as far as possible, tightening that assembly and then tightening up the rear blocks. You can only do that with a lot of upward tension on the side rails.

I 100% understand. Any squeaking would drive me insane. I chased a roof rack (thought it was) noise for 2 weeks during a trip. Turned out it was that black weather stripping on the roof that runs the length of the roof. It would flap but when i stopped to look it would "lay back down" in the channel. I damn near had an aneurism trying to figure it out.

Dont forget to call Sherpa with any questions as well

I think I found the issue. The rubber feet were too close to the side causing minor rubbing of the metal plate on the rubber and the side of the rack. I moved it over and it seems to have fixed it.
