I have a 2018 and those “hooks” for hanging clothes hangers on in the back are useless. What can I get to replace them with that will actually hold two to three hangers and won’t slide off at the slightest movement? HELP

The hooks are fine for picking up some shirts from the dry cleaners. But suck for my overlanding, so i use a broom stick dowel and slide it through the grab handles. Similar to Rorracho's posted suggestion, but better IMO and like $3.

    Long gun rack!!!!

Also doubles as a clothes hanger bar.

Edit - after reading subsequent posts, I see you probably meant the little hooks that are on the second row seat grab handles and not the hooks the very back of the 4Runner. In that case, disregard my post LOL.

    @zac welcome here!

I’m interested now in swapping out the clothes hook entirely with something better like d-rings for example. I also dislike hanging my clothes on the factory hangers, they’re shit. Jus interested in the hooks themselves, don’t need to span across with dowel

The clothes hooks are part of the entire handle assembly. So no way to change that.

Just use the pull down handle and hang them on it.

You could do the FJ Cruiser grab handle mod. The handles are fixed instead of folding, and could be used as a hanger holder.

    You jerk, I didn't trade it! The rental isn't even a sedan. It's a SUB-compact car.

Actually, right before seeing this thread I was stalking my 4Runner via the "Find My" app on my iPhone. My truck has an Air Tag hidden in it. It's still sitting in the body shop..... *Sigh*

    How about this?
    1. Find a short piece of webbing.
    2. Put a hole near each end.
    3. Remove one bolt from the folding handle. Loosen the other.
    4. Form the webbing into a loop and slip it behind the handle, between the handle and the headliner.
    5. Reinsert the bolt you removed, through the holes in the webbing, and tighten both bolts.
For making holes in webbing I use a piece of metal tubing heated up hot.

Or you could just tie a loop of paracord onto the handle.
    Or a shoelace.

Do you normally carry around pressed shirts when "overlanding". Gawd I hate that word...

Funny, yes i do since i'll go from a well dressed event to a "multi day/week off roading trip all over the place while sleeping in my 4runner" while i'm in a good area. "Overlanding" is so much easier than saying all that, it's also better than saying your homeless. lol It's such a great word. lol

Overlanding was impressive when it meant going off-trail in the Australian outback. It’s lost its luster now that the definition has expanded to include parking overnight at a Walmart.

I use the rear seat grab handles. The hooks on these hangers swivel, so I can fit a few shirts on each if needed.

Agreed. Just like "Camping" has lost it's meaning. Camping use to mean you were dry-camping/boon docking and had limited creature comforts, if any. Now it's Glamping. Campers have built in Showers, tv, full stoves & fridge's, ac/heat, wifi and solar power.

Sometimes I'll take a button down shirt or polo shirt with me when I go camping in case there's a possibility of hitting a supper club during the course of the trip.

I wouldn't call anything I do "overlanding", though. It's just car camping. :D

Yeah, it's hard to call it camping if you have electricity and running water.

I do a little bit of this type of "camping" sometimes. But, I also do some more remote camping, where everything is cooked on a propane burner, and the toilet is dug out with a shovel.

Trailer connector relocate, tint, work lights, Pro wheels.
I don’t NEED one of those, but I somehow really WANT one of those.
